hmm. when you play the pads on the TouchOSC interface, are they actually changing the pad displayed on the loops page?

cheers to you for being great!!

No idea what happened but it’s working now! Put norns to sleep whilst I ate, came back and we’re all systems go. Got some really interesting patterns flying in minutes! Really looking forward to what Cheat Codes 2 brings. Thanks again

Hello everyone,

I’ve been playing with Cheat Codes pretty much non-stop for days, it’s so addictive!

I’m currently controlling CC with TouchOSC on my android phone as I can’t afford a grid right now. I do however have Ableton and a launchpad and Push 1, and it got me thinking about the possibilities of mapping the pads on my launchpad to control TouchOSC on my phone which in turn controls CC on norns. No idea if this would be possible but thought I’d give it a go.

So! I downloaded Touch OSC Bridge onto my mac and followed these instructions. https://hexler.net/docs/touchosc-getting-started-midi?android

I can see that Ableton is receiving midi messages from the ‘simple’ template in TouchOSC along with all other standard templates. The little button top right is lighting up a dream. Meanwhile I can also see that norns is still a host on TouchOSC. Here’s where I get excited… but when I flip to the CC template Ableton does not receive any information. The little light does not light up like it does with all the other templates.

Does anyone know why that might be? Is this worth pursuing? (I’m new to all this if that wasn’t completely obvious, but determined to learn!)

thank you for the kind words and energy!!
on my phone right now, so a short response, but i’d say wait for cheat codes 2 — full midi control, so you can just plug your launchpad in

also, when i can get some breathing room, will investigate making a m4l device to address cheat codes thru Live wirelessly — so, hopefully bypassing the touchosc altogether, if folks have sequencers in Live that they want to use

Can’t wait for the release!
I’ve been messing around with the beta for a few days and it is sooo much fun
Love the random modes and delay page.

Thank you @dan_derks for this amazing canvas!

I’m so happy right now. Thank you!

This would be amazing. It’s safe to say I’m hooked. Love the possibilities right now and room for growth.

Reading a tonne of great things about beta for cheat codes 2. I’ll sit tight in anticipate of the release.

Thanks a lot!

Hainbach and Bram Bos just released an iPad app that is basically Cheat Codes. Honestly I find too many similarities, but no one knew in the live chat about CC, even Hainbach himself.

What do you guys think?

It does seem to share a few things, but imo that appraisal dramatically undersells Cheat Codes. You could do something very similar to Gauss in Cheat Codes, but there’s a ton that you can do in Cheat Codes that it isn’t immediately obvious whether you could do with Gauss. It does look fun and convenient though!

Yeah the app looks cool on it’s own and doesn’t seem all that similar to CC in my opinion.

quick announcement

i’m very sorry y’all – I ran into some showstopper issues trying to get everything ready for today.
it would have been a very rough first experience for everybody.
i will get it released as soon as possible + i appreciate the months of patience :revolving_hearts:

update, omg i think i fixed it:

(there’s nothing more demotivating and just, crushing, than thinking your favorite part of a new thing is totally unusable. i am going to have some tea + right myself)

On a separate note, thank you for sharing their site! Their art is great and I really enjoy the design choices made on here. Making me reevaluate how I want to format my own personal developer/art/music website.
