Chicago! (meet-ups/shows/convos)

Most likely going to this:

Earplugs anyone?

20 characters of lineup!!

want to/scared to go

not sure if i’m going to be able to make it, but Dev Hynes (aka Blood Orange) scored a performance that’s opening at the Harris Theater downtown tonight - there are also shows on saturday and sunday

here’s a preview from dev’s insta:

more info:

@redstripedown and I are each playing a set at The California Clipper, on 11/7.

In addition…

I’ll be opening for Levinson/Mahlmeister at uber cocktail bar The Whistler 2421 N Milwaukee on 10/21. 9pm.

it’s not for a while, but tix just went on sale and i got two. this is going to be a great show, hopefully i’ll see you there! justin walter’s ‘unseen forces’ was one of my favorites from last year.

oof. that should be good. Olivia block at Rockefeller was great

I am a long time lurker here and recently moved to Chicago. I am going to try and get out and see some of the awesome shows posted here.

I also will be at Constellation tonight (11/1) with my project Restroy–Avreeayl Ra, Mabel Kwan, James Davis, Kevin Davis, Paul Giallorenzo and myself. There will be a lot of keyboards on stage. If your curious our recent record is streaming on bandcamp here.

This is going down in a couple days! Cory (Red Stripe Down) and myself will be playing this hipster cocktail lounge. Hope to see you Chicago peeps out there!

so glad pitchfork is using their powers for good

Midwinter will feature performances from over 30 artists, including Slowdive, Panda Bear, Oneohtrix Point Never, Kamasi Washington, Deerhunter, Laurie Anderson, Tortoise performing TNT in full, William Basinski performing Disintegration Loops with the Chicago Philharmonic, Grouper, Yves Tumor, Zola Jesus, Perfume Genius, JPEGMAFIA, Joey Purp, Jlin, Hiss Golden Messenger, Mykki Blanco, and many more.

uh uh uh i may have to drive up there for this…

add-on tickets :eyes:

yeah i have a bad feeling that this is going to get pricey real quick. we’ll see how things shake out.

$50 to get in isn’t bad at all but yea those worry me. I don’t think I want to see everything though.

this is going on at the owl tonight, i’m not certain i can make it but it should be a good time :nail_care:

dang, 90%+ chance I’ll be trekking to Chicago for that Pitchfork winter thing. The add-on ticket aspect made me cringe for a second, but when you compare to the cost of non-Pitchfork fests, it will likely still come out cheaper total and likely with smaller crowds since people won’t be seeing acts they don’t care enough to pay for.

I’d make the trip for probably a half dozen or so of those performances even if they were alone (esp Laurie Anderson, Panda Bear, Slowdive [why does Mount Eerie have to overlap with Slowdive ahhhhh]), pretty amazing to have such a solid lineup for a winter event!

Very much considering traveling from Seattle for this event.

i sketched out a schedule on my lunch break and i’m thinking i’ll probably pick up 6-8 add-ons depending on the price? i’m so stoked to see yves tumor, he skipped chicago on his recent tour.

Every five minutes, Mr. Basinski will shoot a violinist.

EDIT: wow this site is getting hammered. can’t even get in now.
