I’ll be there Saturday and Sunday. Say hello if you want to converse or jam! I typically lead a dinner hike to Kuma’s (heavy metal burger joint) on Saturday and then haunt the hotel lobby until the wee hours.
This = me:

Am I correct in seeing that its $60 for all three days and no option for single days? I’d love to come by for a little bit but I’d only be able to make it for a few hours on Saturday. I don’t want to pay $60 for a few hours, seems a little extreme. I only live like 30 mins away so it would be fun to zip over, oh well.

That is correct. And 20 chars.

I saw they’re doing Rampage, which I’ve built and (like any function generator) is a time consuming build. It seemed like a crazy build for an afternoon, but then I saw that all the non-mechanical components are pre-soldered. All you have to do is solder on the jacks, switches, and pots, and assemble the boards–should be easy enough, even for beginners.

I can recommend Kuma’s, great stuff!

Holler at me, Knob Con attendees (especially if you want to grab a burger tonight at Kuma’s).

I signed up for the banquet this time, otherwise I’d go for that. I haven’t tried Kuma’s but found City Whatsit next door is good.

I’ve pretty much worn myself out between 3-4 hours of music last night and 4-5 hours of prowling the exhibition hall today. I haven’t decided if I’m going to stay for Dr. Chowning’s workshop tomorrow or bail out earlyish. I can’t tell from the description how beginner oriented it is or if it’ll be full of useful insights anyway… so it may depend on whether he’s a good storyteller at the keynote

I was planning to go, but then I got stuck covering a bunch of shifts for a coworker who is leaving at the end of the month. Sad to be missing this.

Ooooh this looks neat. Early enough to bring my son for a bit.

Oooh I’ll definitely go see this.

Hi,

If any Chicagoans are looking for something to do tonight, I will be doing some improvised music at an exhibition opening at the Arts Club of Chicago with Avreeayl Ra (drums), and Mabel Kwan (clavichord). The sculptor, Abraham Cruzvillegas, work is amazing and we will be interpreting some poems that he gave us to use a couple weeks ago. Events like this are what making living in this city worth it too me.

For anyone interested, I’m playing an improv set at the Elastro A/V Fall Festival at Elastic Arts, on October 25th. It’s night one of a special series of four live electro/acoustic sound + video performances featuring over 40 local artists. I’ll be improvising with 4 other folks in the 2nd set. I’ll be playing modular synth, but there’s a whole variety of electro/acoustic instruments involved, looks really fun.

HI. Its seems like its just a few of the same of us posting here, but what the hell. LOL.
I’m playing two shows next week…

Thursday Nov 14th - Cafe Mustache
Levinson / Mahlmeister

This is a duo with myself on lapsteel and modular and Jamie Levinson on Sensory Percussion triggers, Ableton and modular. This stuff is pretty ambient/chill.

Saturday Nov 16th - Logan Square Loft Party, Location TBA
Batchmeister

This is another duo which I play guitar and modular with drummer Jason Batchko. This ventures into free jazz / free improv territory a little more, and dare I say we actually have some pieces with pre-written parts. Ha.
