No, I’ve had the version I use for years… Must have come from Bhob’s site back in the day I guess.

FWIW I can’t open the version in the Dropbox, the only differences between that and mine are:

The icon on mine has a white background, the Dropbox version is transparent.
The creation date on mine is 10/01/2009, the Dropbox version is 26/04/2007

Other than that they have the same version number 0.0.1d1

Has anyone here got ppooll for Max 6? I want to play around with the 32-bit spectral objects again. I had it before, but I guess I must have deleted it some time ago. It didn’t quite work well in High Sierra, a lot of odd waiting and graphical bugs. I’ve asked on the Klingt list as well.

Just sent you a link to ppool2.8 which I think was the last one before Max7

Without a doubt the most beautiful sounding granular of all time.

Whoa damn. You weren’t kidding. I crammed it into a max for live shell just now. It’s so organic sounding…

It’s worth noting that the gg.rainer act in lloopp/ppooll was adapted from Nobuyasu Sakonda’s code and is much improved, imo.

Curious — is anyone successfully doing explorations of OS9 software via SheepSaver on Big Sur? I’ve long had it installed, but I keep running into various errors when trying to unzip downloads with stuffit within the emulation…tried reinstalling but still no dice.

Oh, I had no idea. Been using that a lot since 2015.

I wrote a little thing on Bhob Rainey’s Xynthi patch. https://mockfuneral.github.io/2020/12/11/xynthi

Anybody have recommendations regarding which version of Supercollider Xynthi needs?

I don’t think it needs any.

I’m getting messages that it can’t find files in the application support folder

I’m giving it a shot on a 2015 laptop running sierra. I’ve got a version of supercollider from 2018 on it.

EDIT:

Tried 3.7.2 and those messages went away after deleting that folder and starting up an older version, but now I see:

get kAudioDevicePropertyRegisterBufferList error ?ohw
could not initialize aERROR:
server failed to start

I am away from my 10.4 Mac right now but I don’t think I installed Supercollider on it. Simply start via the icon. Did not work on 10.14 or 10.15 for me if that is what you are using.

Xynthi working on 10.7.5, although no sound currently. it shows the interface in the boot window list of devices and sees midi commands (gates light on and off)…any ideas?

Just to clarify, Xynthi works for me on 10.4.11 G3 or G4 only, it seems to work on 10.3.9 as well (as written on the mock funeral page). Also, for me, it does not work on Snow Leopard (Intel Machine) or 10.14 and I am not sure if the version @pmj mentions which seems to be a bit different is to be found elsewhere.

In other news, ppooll 2.8 seems to work fine on Snow Leopard with Max Runtime 6.1.10.

Here’s another ‘oldtimer’ (2003): DataDada. Great for harvesting glitchy audio samples …

In case it’s useful for anyone, this is the 2009 version of Xynthi I mentioned a few posts back that I run here under High Sierra with no issues. I asked Bhob if it was OK to share, he’s fine with it so here it is:

I run it principally on a desktop machine, it displays rather oddly on a Macbook but other than that seems OK there too.

Mac Mini w/ High Sierra 10.13.6
MOTU Ultralite Mk3 Hybrid set to 48kHz

I can’t shed any light on why it works and nor could Bhob, it doesn’t open here if I have any kind of aggregate device set up in my sound settings but straight to the MOTU is fine. Hope it helps.

I get that same error. Running OS 10.12.6. Bummer

Thanks for sharing this, this works OK on my white Macbook 2.1 with Snow Leopard while the other version had unclickable save and load buttons. It does not work on 10.14 which is my most up to date system.
Also, with this version I still have the same issue with the cut off layout (the modulation bus being on a second page)… on the Macbook and also on a G3 Pismo with 10.4. Would be so cool to get it onto one page… Still usable and a very fine sound indeed. <3
