really loving this!!

Been messing about with otherwise boring sequences for hours.

One problem I’m having is that the clock input from crow seems to be not working for me.
All my other apps that use crow seem to be working fine eg. Awake.

Has anyone else had any issue?

Glad you’re enjoying it! As far as crow clocking goes, I did sometimes have difficulty getting the clock recognized, but simply reloading the script typically fixed the issue. It worked when I tested recently, but I’ll see about initializing crow from the script side to prevent this from happening.

Let me know if you get this up and running!

Heya,

Cheers for the reply.

I’ve tried a fair few times to restart the app and I cannot get it to respond.

However this is the only app I’m trying to use crow inputs to norns, however my crow outputs all work as expected.

No problem! I’ll test again tonight when I have a chance.

Just to confirm the simple stuff first, are you:

  • Running a recent firmware update (2.2+)?
  • Selecting crow as your clock source in the params menu?
  • Using crow input 1?

Thanks for confirming.

My norns version is dated ‘191201’ which i believe is the latest.

I’m changing the clock input from Internal to ‘crow in 1’ and have a clock in crow input 1.

Maiden says my Compass version is the latest too.
I can confirm that my crow inputs are working on another app (awake).

I’ve seen this functionality working on a friends setup, so I’m a bit baffled.

most recent version of norns is 191230. Though I don’t know if that will solve your issue

Thanks for that, I’ve updated and still no luck.

EDIT:
I also want to add that the functionality for crow input 2 works.

@Olivier i love compass. wondering if it’s at all possible to load samples into compass or if that’s something in the works for the future? thanks

Pretty sure my crow clock is working now.

I think it was a conflict of an existing druid script loaded. I’ll mess about some more and recreate the issue.

Either way, no I think there is no issue with the compass script.

Thanks so much for the support!!!

@robpurd Excellent! I’m glad to hear that. Was getting a little nervous when I couldn’t reproduce the issue last night.

@claasp Glad you’re enjoying it! I have no current plans to fold in sample loading, but I’d encourage anyone with an interest in that workflow to fork the script and give it a shot.

Hi! I just got my Norns yesterday, so here’s a noob question: compass seems to work fine, it’s just that I can’t understand how to import/record a sound clip into it. Any help appreciated!

Thanks,
Anders

Hey man! Good to see you here.

First thing, I don’t think you can import a clip into compass; you’ve got to record audio into the buffer through the two 1/4 inch audio inputs on Norns. So, my first move is generally to jam an entire 60s loop into the buffer. K3 toggles record on and off.

Assuming you haven’t changed any characters in the command line yet, you should hear you audio playback once the buffer resets. I usually toggle record off at this point.

Now, you can start altering command line variables. Madness ensues.

Make sense?

I didn’t think it would be THAT easy. Now it makes sense. Thank you so much! It’s such a wonderful script!

Loving this a lot so far, but cannot seem to figure out where is the internal clock speed for the sequencer?

Glad you’re enjoying the script! As of now, the base metro speed isn’t an exposed parameter. It’s hard-coded to 1s on script load, and then sequence-specific commands - <, >, [, ] - will alter speed: down to 4s and up to 0.0625 for supreme glitch (the C command will bring you back to 1s).

However, I’ll see about making this more flexible by exposing the base metro speed as a param!
