There are so many wonderful contributions to the disquiet0269, that I wanted to add a part to several half-duets.
If I could and had the time, to all of these.
I had picked no. 2, kamikuma, and no. 14, Lionel Benancie, and tried out several approaches. When I wanted to transfer it from my multitrack-tascam - where I do all my work - to the computer, I forgot to mute one the these projects, so they started playing at the same time. This sounds interesting, I thought, and … here we go.
I had played a bass to kamikuma´s half-duet, and a bit of percussion on the wavedrum to Lionel´s track.
this is of course not according to the idea of the project, but I thought it might be interesting nonetheless

Thanks so much for having thought to do this, @sevenism. Anyone joining in at this stage might do a random from this smaller set.

Strictly taken this one does not fit the idea of this project to add a half to a half-duet, because I added - so to say - two halves by playing two tracks, by playing first the drums, then the bass.
I felt tempted to upload it with only bass or only drums, but this didn´t seem to fit, there was something missing about it, which made me feel uncomfortable. This is why I uploaded it this way

If first randomly drew my own first half submission, so I rolled again. I got #30: @plusch’s lovely, delicate Up in the Air.

Finding a good electronic instrument to play against it was easy enough… composing a complementary part to such rich minimalism was very challenging. I had assumed I’d play live with timbre much more, but in the end let just the subtle gesture variations speak against the simple, repetitive line - much as the piano part does.

I do wish my performance skills were up to the task… I’d love to perform this live, since I think getting the loose tempo feel to it would be much easier in person, rather than trying to match a recording.

Since I couldn’t sleep, I started doing the number thing(again) and I stopped when it(completely randomly, ya ya) picked Kamikuma’s song.

I know, it’s my 3rd entry for this weeks Junto, sorry… I blame it on insomnia! (2.45am bedtime for Bongo)

I see, I am not the only one to upload more than one track. As I said before, there are so many beautiful contributions the half a duet - disquiet junto project, I´d like to do more.
I listened to Ohm Research´s track repeatedly, then turned to my keyboard with these impressions, and came up with a theme very soon, varying between verse and chorus

I enjoyed the initial piece I submitted this week so much that I decided to offer a second collaboration. I remembered that a number of months ago I had gotten permission from Daniel Diaz to remix one of his tracks, then ran out of time, so I selected the work he presented last week.

Daniel Diaz’s lovely piece, Lonely Duo (https://soundcloud.com/daniel-diaz/lonely-duet-uke-disquiet0269) was written with the intention of a collaboration so took it upon myself to provide a backing for the ukulele. In the original there is more to the piece than the simple uke so give it a listen, but I enjoyed the chance to add something simple to something I feel should remain simple.

The score (available at bit.ly/2mOtGEb), written for string quartet, accompanies the sound file.

Oh well, since I can’t seem to get anything done, here is a repost- https://soundcloud.com/user-651760074/bare-metal-disquiet0270 I hope Marc can add it to this week since it was named before this weeks prompt was posted. The only thing it lacks is randomness. Lots of duets and bands are drawn together because of that certain something, and this has that in spades! Thanks again YaWha? ;-D

With FJNA it is his sleeplessness, with me it is … not being able to decide which of all these wonderful contributions to chose…plus my own insomnia.
Whenever wanting to play to anything, I listen over and over and over before starting anything. So also with no.33, Guitar by Wüst. I decided I wanted an orchestral-like sound of strings. I played several times, then recorded it in one go
And now enough, now I am so keen on listening to all the other finished duets I haven´t yet had the time to listen to

I used sevinism’s great track shifting sands,

Sevenismism – Shifting-sands-disquiet0269

and added a bit of my own stuff. I didn’t play anything, it’s midi piano, with a few effects and then a short segment of voice.
When I heard sevenism’s track at first I had no idea what I could do, but after a while I slowly got some ideas. I used the suggested random number generator to pick a track, my first pick was not downloadable, so this was my second (randomly selected) one.

… a bit more …

When I heard shifting sands, I thought of being lost in the wilderness, so that’s why I added the part about “where are you”. To make this better, I thought I should add a few more effects in the first part, like some more chords, repeats, panning and so on.

Just under the wire. My duet with Sevenism.

To make this I setup my modular to create a complimentary drone as well as some minimal rhythm that I mixed in towards the end. Trying to maintain the tone of the original. Everything performed and recorded in real time.

Here I am again, with another duet. I had been pondering all the time what to play to Daniel Diaz´ wonderful piece of music. I couldn´t sleep, so I fiddled about with some sounds on my kurzweil, when I came up with a sound called “stereo vibes”
. That´s it, I thought. Being not much of a keyboard-player, it took me quite some while to figure out what to play, but once I got it it was great fun playing it.

Here’s a spreadsheet with everything from both Junto projects, where each 0269 submission is matched up with the 0270 submissions that used it. Enjoy!

Note: it is editable, so please update / fix as needed, but don’t sort or change the columns - make a copy first.

Rather nice, there are quite a number of things going on here with the trumpet announcing its presence and working its way through the fog. Thanks so much for this, it is greatly appreciated.
