@RupertL: Cool that you ended up using my half of a duet! Your part if a perfect fit to it and it makes my slighly unexciting drone come to life. We should do this more often!

i rolled a 28. which was this https://soundcloud.com/ohm-research/sketch-disquiet-0269?in=disquiet/sets/disquiet-junto-project-0269
i picked up what was to hand - a mic and harmonica - and played along with a load of echo n feedback fx loaded… very easy because @ohm-research 's track was largely rhythm
cba to video. so just imagine me lying on the sofa holding a mic and harmonica looking super lazy

I contributed already one track to this week’s playlist but would like to share with you the other duets I’ve been working.
This is the third duet I recorded this week from last week’s excellent junto 0269
https://soundcloud.com/daniel-diaz/valse-encore-plus-triste-paul-rose-disquiet0270
It’s a track by paulchristopherose ā€œvalse triste de las rotasā€
https://soundcloud.com/paulchristophrose/valse-triste-de-las-rotas-disquiet0269-half-of-duet
he recorded a haunting Spanish guitar rendition of his song and I added a live take with a lovely instrument (perhaps my favourite), the accordina.
It was quite easy and satisfying collaboration because: 1-The song is beautiful and 2-it is very simple and understated both harmonically and technically so when you don’t have to worry about technique or difficult stuff and you have such a beautiful melody, well, you can just let emotion flow and it was a very nice and sensitive afternoon dueting with Paul.
Considering his wink to both Spain (Las Rotas village) and France (the title) Paul would be pleased to learn that his song features now a track performed by a true Spaniard and it was recorded in the heart of Paris.
Cheers
DD

Think my track has been missed out from the playlist - my fault, I omitted the first zero from 0270 when originally tagging my track on soundcloud - apologies. Redundant zero now present and correct!

So I was given 32 by the random thing - so I worked with The Heart Half by Nate Trier :
Triermusic – The-heart-half-disquiet0269

The original track is meandering tonally a lot. So making something coherent from it in a consonant way didn’t seem to feel right.

About 4 or 5 or so years ago I visited my grandmothers house for one of the last times she lived there. At the time her piano was still there. This piano was where I doodled around for hours as a kid on christmas holidays. So I decided to multisample it. It was an upright and wonky, out of tune and noisy.

This is played on a kontakt patch I made from it which removes all the attack from each note so that it drones. I recorded an instinctual reaction to the piece. The only processing is an EQ and reverb I set before hitting record.

Retagged my track as I also missed out the ā€œ0ā€ in the disquiet number.

Hello, I got #15 but I must have miscounted cause this is #16. You can tell it’s live cause I am screwing up all over this but I think it makes it kinda sweet and keeps with the live performance. I didn’t have a camera but hell I would have screwed up even more if I was filming it. I look forward to trying more duets from last week.

Had a lot of fun working on duets and for the official Junto I pulled up the number generator on the pad and up popped 14. Lionel Benancie’s song https://soundcloud.com/lionel-benancie/e122disquiet-disquiet-junto-project-0269-duet-portion?in=disquiet/sets/disquiet-junto-project-0269 was a perfect fit for my exceptionally drained mind and body. I opened the track in Logic and just closed my eyes for a while. After a little listening I found a patch in Alchemy that seemed to add to the mystery. Then I hit record and started playing. And nailed it! Well almost, I did remove a sour note right at the end, but was otherwise happy with the results. I then duplicated that live track and added a small bell sound with some delay just for accentuation over the mood. Not too complicated but hopefully adding a little more interest to a very nice track. Thanks Lio I hope you approve

like DeDe (Daniel), I felt compelled to do a second duet, as I really loved FJNA’s ā€œNeo Minimalisstic percussieā€ (no. 11 on the list) and wanted to add something to it. Seeing as so far, nobody’s been given that one I thought I’d take a crack at it… Glass Armonica and a drone from Kinetic Metal added.

My first Disquiet Junto project.

My random number was 6, so I got Daniel Diaz’s lovely Ukulele solo to which I added some minimal drones with a screwdriver on the guitar and some abstract noise from a tape loop I had lying around.

Since Daniel Diaz did such a wonderful job with the bass part I submitted for last week’s Junto, I said I would ā€˜return the favour’ as best I could, dueting with his own gorgeous piece on ukulele from last week.

In keeping with the project brief, this is a live bass guitar accompaniment to Daniel’s part on ukulele.

Hope you enjoy. Thanks to Daniel for an inspirational ā€œfirst halfā€.
