I live just south in Salem. PDX is a great place to find modular and other experimental types of folks to collaborate with / learn from / teach. As far as online personas go, I have dozens. I think it is important to be yourself at all times in each case. I have gotten a great deal of trolling energy from different spots, which tends to throw me into a prickly place, hence my moniker. It’s not the only reason I use “horridus” as a tag, but it is one reason. Sometimes I think people become the people they are when they are in rush hour traffic while online. I have been in one place or another at one layer or another for a long time, but I tend to approach each place as an absolute beginner. I love to learn new things and gather intelligence in areas I’m interested in from the beginner’s perspective. I like “Lines”, I do find the air here less toxic. I also like a rough and trolling spot too sometimes. So far, the only thing I wish was less prevalent on some forums are some attitudes I’ve noticed where sharing work is considered taboo or somehow attached to ego etc. I think it’s odd when that attitude pops up. What is the point to joining a forum about music, making music and all things related and then not sharing work if you want to? Especially CC licensed work. How can it be more open and less commercial than that? I’m still working on some better understanding of this kind of thing.
Anyhow Drewsky, I hope you find it comfortable enough to be yourself here. I won’t bite. Welcome to Oregon BTW. I’ll play your stuff on our radio show if you’re game. It’s fun launching your work into outer space just because you can :>) bestest, horridus
