for me 2 main doors…

  • workflow, is much better… esp, when linked to using the sd card for patches (also supported* in OS 3.0), no more messing about using the usb stick.
  • musical connectivity - things like Ableton Link, and OSC - very handy for iOS connectivity, and even mac/pc (due to Organelle being a midi host not device).
Im probably going to be adding MIDI over OSC too, at some point soon, to make it integrate better/easier with my mac and Live.

note: internal sd for patches, you’ll need a new 8gb sd card, and C&G are going to release a 8gb image (4gb used for OS, 4gb for patches etc), which you then just copy on to the new sdcard using something like ‘etcher.io

Ive been working with wifi/internal sd card for a long time, and only ever use a usb stick to test when releasing software for others, no way i could use the USB stick now

so yeah, add a wifi stick (be careful which you get) and 8gb sdcard to your Christmas list.

Good news! I successfully updated to OS 3 - looks like my Mac Mini was the culprit.

So any specific recommendations for a wifi adapter? The thread there was a little stale so thought I would ask directly.

some Organelle/ETC Victorian fun , based on an idea by Mark Kunoff on the Organelle Forum

these are just proof of concepts, with some of the images coming from a skip search on google images… and then an iPhone video of my TV

but I think it’ll work much better later, when I put on the Projector, and start using audio to modulate them.

The air is buzzing with excitement around Norns, and for some of us Superbooth, inspiring music and ideas abound.

So just to add some excitement for Organelle, next Monday I will be releasing something new, and far more ambitious than anything else I’ve done for the Organelle… so pencil it in

don’t worry if you don’t have an Organelle, it may be coming your way too …

Of course, it’s open, it’s free - so quite good value too

well, well… quiet interested in seeing what is coming!

See… now youv’e got my little PiSound all jumpy and excited. I’d just gotten it all calmed down after the norns annoucement, and now I can’t get it to play even a simple groove!

Excited to have one arriving this week!

(I continue my never-ending quest to find a travel synth. I know it’s not battery powered, but I am hoping that I click with it a bit more than I have with the OP-1.)

Hi Folks
for some of you who watched my TEDx yo umay recall that i am doing a pd-historical project and reviving and re-compiling old [sometimes 20 year old] pd code from all over the world
IF you have an organelle~ you may be interested in the ‘PLUNK’
Styled loosely after the intellijel PLONK module it revives the research of Davide Rochesso and an modal bar physical model

it is here

Thanks to Spencer Russell and Thomas Grill for the help with this 15 year old external revived for organelle and piSound

Hi all!

Does anyone know what buttons specifically are used in the Critter and Guitari organelle? Or if not, have suggestions for other momentary buttons that could be good for a similar box organ?

I’d want them to be as easy to push as possible, and low noise, since I want it playable like a small keyboard, not programmable like a sequencer.

Thanks!

Not sure if you know this but Organelle buttons are NOT low noise haha!

Been a lot of times I been mashing on the buttons to create drones in a biig delay and reverb.
In my headphones it sounds lush en smooth, then my girlfriend tells me to take off the headphones for a second… clickclackCLIKCLKASLISADKLASDIASDK hehe!

Plus they don’t work that well, inside the Organelle it’s just a strip of rubber you push down on, you have to really push them hard sometimes to work :grinning:

Hahaha well thank you both, @KristofferLislegaard and @rmro. I did not know that and I guess I’ll rule out Organelle-similar buttons from my search!

Shame my topic was merged into the Organelle thread now but oh well.

I make music primarily with tape loops and I’m looking to expand my musical pallete a bit. I have a few cheap Casio synths and a Volca FM, and an 0-Coast that I might be selling soon. I’m pretty intrigued by the Organelle and have been for a while. But I’m also aware that the Norns operates in some of the same areas, I just have less of an understanding of its capabilities. It seems like it works best in tandem with other Monome products, and that’s maybe more of an investment than I’m willing to make now. So, what is your opinion of the Organelle, and would you recommend it to someone working on tape loops/experimental ambient music? And how does the Norns compare?

I would say yes enthusiastically. Not sure how much you have dug into the C&G forum or organelle.io, or youtube for that matter. I’m a bit of a fanboy–and I’m not a PD nerd at all. The patches out there are great and actually tend toward the ambient/experimental side of things.

The versatility of having a sampler/looper/synth/sequencer/effects processor (not always at the same time) is pretty amazing. It does benefit from a MIDI controller or two.

And @thetechnobear has taken it to the next level with Orac and the Mutable ports.

Specific Qs? DM me or happy to answer here.
