Visionary idea! Acrually the first moment that I thought I could really need a crow, if this becomes reality.

Great idea!

Has me thinking it would be really great if crow could sync to W/ loop points & speed while recording/playing back.

I very much like W/'s caption mode (cv record/playback that happens parallel to audio recording) but miss having cv control over tape speed. If crow could poll w/ over ii for tape speed and cue point, and function like:
In 1: cv to record
In 2: ? Maybe trigger to reset W/ to last cue?
Out 1: recorded cv
Out 2: quantized cv
Out 3: synced lfo
Out 4: trigger on reset/cue point passing

I have no idea what info crow can poll from w/ so may be impossible or impractical with varispeed. Maybe just half/full/double speed and cue points to simplify?

icecaps: quad melting LFO

crow standalone

heat + conduction CV inputs
4 LFOs out

LFOs reflect off of each other and bounds, like billiard balls (ala a certain IFM module). energy is lost to neighbors and from the system; higher conduction = higher losses = slower LFOs on average.

Positive heat CV accelerates top LFO, negative heat CV accelerates bottom LFO.

TXi + crow - Quad Envelope Generator - Triggers to the TXi inputs, TXi knobs adjust the envelopes.

2x LFO’s, Smooth Random, Random S+H - Clock (in 1), LFO timing ratio ala Mimeophon’s Skew (in 2)

edit: @ngwese observes that it may be a challenge to poll TXi for trigger detection re: quad envelope use case.

crow inputs available for norns parameter mapping
ableton clock available for norns sync

oh that’s interesting. great idea. i could see this in the new param system.

ableton and norns are both hosts… so only one of them gets crow?

crow-unrelated, we could make an OSC-based m4l device that would do ableton-norns sync probably pretty well.

Is work still happening on Abelton Link support for norns? (Which would accomplish this, wouldn’t it?)

I think that once mlr can receive a clock from modular or send a clock from Norns that I will then buy a crow. Right now I’m just resisting because with all the Norns, teletype, and max/msp coding I’m doing, I’m asking myself if another coding thing would just distract me. But if crow could receive start stop, run, and a clock to sync my modular to mlr I would buckle in 1 second.

(Basically I want the crow haha)

a port of this might b a cool add-on for norns + crow sequencers

It’s perpetually #2 on the project stack for me. Going to try to get to it after I finish the norns/crow app I’m working on right now. I’ve done some other Link development in the last couple months and hopefully that knowledge transfers.

Also, the norns app I’m working on would benefit tremendously from Link support, so hopefully the odds are going up.

As an owner of an rs-35, which I love and is the best at doing what it does, I’d love to see Norns replace that functionality in my rack.

now that I have I2C control of ansible via crow, I’m curious if anyone has any good ideas for this combo?

Feel like I have some new power I want to take advantage of…

Well, you have 6 cv and 6 trigger outs now along with a trigger and cv input… How about a 4 note tetrad chord generator from the ansible with a root octave above & below coming from the crow, generated from the crows cv input for chord root? A sample & hold chord generator…

That could be cool… I’m working with a smaller system so not typically making 4-6 voice chords, but it’s definitely an interesting idea. A bunch of related LFO’s and/or envelopes could work too.

A 6 track version of awake with clock in and reset from ansible and global morph and randomise input on crow would be very cool!

Drop those lines into a sequential switch and make an arppegiator! And yeah related LFO’s could be fun, make yourself a SLOTH circuit or a mini Vector Space!

is the ā€œexpanderā€ functionality like this available with white whale?

I have yet to write any crow scripts but I’ve been thinking about it. Most of my ideas seem to want more than 2 inputs. Not so much for performance but more for configuration items - being able to change something fundamental about the script’s behavior without Druid/norns connected. I guess once the TXi over ii is fully functional that will be a lot more inputs. For crow only, have been thinking about some weird stuff like:

If input 1 > 4.75 volts or < -4.75 volts, switch into a config mode where input 2’s voltage configures something

If input 1 receives 2 triggers within 15ms of one another, go to config

Anyone else been thinking along these lines or have other ideas?

Personally, I think it would be hard to understand the mode the module is in since it doesn’t have any LEDs for feedback. Something like this might be kind of interesting to control from Teletype on the fly though!
