liiiiines - hello friends,
elated to share my latest album “aftersongs” out on seil records today.
i’ve always struggled with album notes, never finding the right balance of description and biography for me, and was inspired by @jwm’s approach of writing a poem. i enjoyed this process and will most likely repeat it, there is both a precision and lack of precision with it that fits perfectly.
the desert weaved dust into our hair,
grateful for our passing company.
punctuates the dashboard with salt and dry rhythm -
mirrored in the empty land.
now we keep the signs of early darkness
in the unswept places of our homes.
not the door but the path
inward - careless in the way it is unending.
when will we join the packs of wild dogs?
that under dusk roam the distant suburbs -
that plunge directly into highways
and are suddenly quieted.
i also wanted to shout out some scripts/authors that not only were part of this album but have been integrated as instruments in my own practice over the years. i want to give my thanks and they have truly widened my pallet/approach.
