I’m ready to take my data management more seriously and I think this setup could work:
10TB HDD for long term storage, 2TB M.2 NVMe for more accesible storage and side loading of apps and libraries and a dock for both. If I want to expand on the future, I could use the same drives and get another dock so it looks like the better choice.
I’m aware that the read/write speeds for the M.2 will be around 1GB/s through USB, that’s why I’m going for the 3500MB/s version and not the 5000MB/s.
I’m sharing in case someone thinks that another approach could be worth considering.
