Hi all. Here's my contribution for the week.
Growing up we had a set of wind chimes hanging off our living room window. They were old tubular metal chimes. Winter often reminds me of their sound.
The only wind chimes I have in my studio are these glass chimes (in the picture) that I picked up at a flea market somewhere. I recorded myself "playing" the chimes.
On top of that I added a wind drone, and then recorded a melodic fragment on my old tenor recorder. I like the melody because it wobbles back and forth between minor and major, though more heavy on the melancholy, I suppose. It's been that kind of a week.
I took the melody and expanded it a bit and played it on a wine glass plug-in I have. Added lots of delay and verb on both the glass and the recorder to smear their sounds.
Lastly I added a little bit of a beat.
I love the snow in winter, but then there are those dreary rainy days... (We had a little bit of snow yesterday here in New York City, but today it's just cold and rainy again.)
