This remix is a reaction to an image of very thin vertical lines, which I took to represent short slices of time. I divided Ohm Research’s track “Aikaisemmin” into one second cells. I took every fourth cell (e.g. 001, 005, 009 …) and recombined them to make a one minute intro track of (somewhat glitchy) audio. Next, the same track was paulstretched then imported into Ableton for distortion, layering, panning, compression. A simple beat was added, while the left and right channels employed a dirty synth plug-in to superimpose ringing notes.

The track title is a quote from Shakespeare’s Troilus and Cressida.

This week I started with running the images thru photosounder. I created 6 variations. 3 of the clock image and 3 of the clock image from weeks prior. I liked the sound of the image itself, I wrote on it Broken Clock with the darkener and highlighter. I loaded the tracks into Abelton and set a follow action for the tracks to play thru. I sidechained these with a group of 2 of the images that I selected a slice of, looped, warped and adjusted themesure to 11/4 and applied some EQ and compression.
I then added a looper and played thru some of the track with the EQ, Speed and looper. I had fun with this one, the track is constructed a 100% from the sounds of the images with processing.
I took this one very literal but I love working from sonicified images. I utilized the image sound from 0357 so, form came from the original image. I will try to upload the images for each sound later this weekend. Good Luck this one was a BLAST!

The playlist is now rolling:

And I’m loving the render-glitch images folks are using for their cover images.

Apologies all, my track is now downloadable!

No problem. Thanks for having done it. It’s not required. Totally fine if folks don’t want their work reworked.

Cheers @ZeroMeaning

Mine is also downloadable now. I’m traveling this weekend so will not be able to partake in this one :slightly_frowning_face:

I worked with Robert Knote’s 12 HOURS. Shaved off the opening bit and wrote a song around it.

Cheers xo

I’d been meaning to try remixing my recording and had an approach in mind from an earlier Junto that seemed to meet the description.

The Slow By Steps Junto outlined an approach to remixing that drew out loops, so I could imagine looked like the colorful striations under the broken clock.

the image really reminded me of the autechre youtube dump visuals… but i didnt want it to sound like that because it just sounds like 444 tracks of raw data to me. but the visuals made me think of colured reverb tails and stereo mutations

i took ohms track used low quality tempo change for some atonal artifacts
duplicated that, added reverb colour by pitching up 5st and wet reverb
duplicated and rvb color’d another couple of times. delay and echo on some of the tracks, eq’d and volumes adjusted acousmatically (accidentally thought some of the sounds emanated from the washing machine…whoops!)

Hey All, Used Robert Knote’s track.

and here is a NON_SUBMISSION that uses How the Night Came’s track if anyone wanted to check it out.

I wanted to keep a bit of both tracks audible in the glitchness,
Peace, Hugh

I loved this GLSmyth piece.

Glsmyth – 12-hours-disquiet0357

and luckily he allowed me to use it for my strange project.

It seems like the soundcloud version is slightly differerent than the one on my computer, like some kind of clipping … is that possible?

This is a composite remix of Sevenism’s “The Clock” and How The Night Came’s “The Time Is Out Of Joint” from Disquiet 0357. This result was unexpected, like the glitch in the photo for the project.

This is a “non submission” that developed as I was remixing my Junto this week.

My submission took directions from Junto 0166 and it led me to wonder about Junto 0332, which was the remix based on lottery results.

So I looked up the local lotto and selected the files for this remix that were recorded for Junto 0357 based on the Powerball numbers.

Dunno, it doesn’t reflect the broken clock image but still got a good result.

My work is based on https://soundcloud.com/howthenightcame/disquiet0357-the-time-is-out-of-joint

I used downsampling and grain glitches.

Hey!
Here’s mine:

I used the track from Detrius:

I split it into 8 frequency ranges, applied different processing to each range and then put a beat behind it, Livecut it and did some editing on the whole thing. I like that you can in places still make out some of the well known tracks Detrius used.

Yes it could be, there is a lot of transcoding going on their side. If you leave a minimum of 0.3 db headroom I think this is enough to avoid clipping.
