I used all 3 audio clips to create a drum rack for my Roli that I then ran thru the host of Roland DJ 808. I also recorded a loop, while spinning the tracks on 1,2,4 and the host of role was going thru 3A. I placed this loop back in the track. I used a MAX for Live device I built and ran 5 instances of the 3 videos.

I then applied serial and parallel compression. I also took a section near the end of the track and reversed it.

I then took the video and added it to the sound. Hope you enjoy.
Happy Friday, Vonna

For this piece I started with track 11 from the playlist:
https://soundcloud.com/yobink/disquiet0369-restive?in=disquiet/sets/disquiet-junto-project-0369 by @yobink
this in turn was based on: https://soundcloud.com/jesuisgentil/disquietude-disquiet0368 by @gentil which eventually led me to: https://soundcloud.com/encymlll/quietude-trio-initiate-disquiet0367 to use as a foundation by @encym and to round it off I had an additional layer: https://soundcloud.com/triermusic/disquiet0387-encumbered-interlocutor from @ntrier

The approximate periodicity of sunspots is 11 years.

I haven’t really invested a great deal of time in learning how to use a DAW properly so this one was quite a challenge for me and my mixing abilities.

I didn’t do too much overall. I gradually fade in and out of different layers and sprinkle little snatches of guitar and piano (with some reverb and delay here and there) throughout the track.

The group 1 alkali metal Sodium is the chemical element with atomic number 11.

Once again a really enjoyable project making me try out things I ordinarily wouldn’t  I’m tempted to try another one at some point over the weekend because this was quite quick.

that came out great! I like the extra density and layering and body you’ve given it. thanks @mdh

I followed these lines:

1st Line: @NorthWoods drum initiate - North_woods – Disquiet0367-trio-initiate

2nd Line: @carlin_mclellan 's droney drummy duo - Carlin-mclellan-751824513 – Northwoods-droney-drone-disquiet0368

3rd Line: @mzero drummy droney bass - Mtnviewmark-bits – Drummy-droney-bass-disquiet0369

I took the original line (Northwoods drums) and doubled it to get more of a stereo image, and added some ping pong to the right side which was EQ’d brigher. I took the drone from the second line and added a gate sidechained to the drums. Lastly, I weaved Mark’s bass in with some distortion and reverb which made it end up having more of a drone quality than the original drone, which became percussive. Was a fun project, many thanks and kudos to the original artists.

Hint: If the poster kept the first two hard panned… you can subtract the duo from the trio to get the third line as an independent track!

Thanks for that, Mark.

Great sounds, very deep! Well done

Unfortunately, my through-line didn’t branch, but I still had a lot of fun playing with sounds by @gis_sweden, @dnealelo and @UntilledSound.

The three original tracks: 367, 368 and 369.

I modified the original tracks with Audacity, playing with effects, and then used Mixxx to create loops, control levels with a physical controller and add other effects on top. I also had a couple of sections chopped into my MPC to do fast repeats. I put everything together in Qtractor, and I’m pretty happy with how simple and progressive it is. Not sure if that’s what Marc had in mind at all!

Thank you to the original artists! Amazing sounds to play with

I started from the solo track by @howthenightcame and found five more tracks that included it: duos by @glsmyth @k-blamo @ikjoyce @swhic and the trio by @_greathorned. I lined up the tracks, added a touch of reverb and other dynamics effects here and there, and faded each of the tracks in and out at various times. An emotional, haunting piece made possible by all the artists involved.

Found this one very difficult! I was really pushed for time but I did manage to complete something using tracks by @UntilledSound @tedthetrumpet @ZeroMeaning and @mzero

I created two main drone layers by loading snippets of each track into a couple of different granular synthesis apps. I then added a couple of small snippets that I liked, dotted them throughout the track, and drenched them in reverb.

Really like the sound of this, the kick sounds nice and deep through my headphones

I’m interested in how you used Mixxx here. I was considering downloading it recently to try to learn a little about mixing and djing, but creating loops with it also sounds like a great idea :open_mouth:
Did you create some loops and then export them as audio to be used in Qtractor? Or can it be launched in Ableton / Qtractor like a VST and done in real time? (hopefully these questions make sense)

Hey @mdh, glad you liked it, it does sound a whole lot better with headphones (I realised after uploading it…).

Mixxx has seen a lot of development recently, and it is an excellent (open source) program for DJing, with a truckload of features – I really recommend checking it out.

The fact that it can take 4 decks, has good control over loops, a sampler deck (with some skins supporting 64 samples!) and quite a few effects (and the developers just added LV2 effects support in Mixxx 2.2.0, see screenshot), it means that it now can really be used as an instrument of some sort, or just a comfortable place to play around with finding loops in tracks. Also because it has quite a few mappings for midi controllers, and a midi-learning interface to adapt any midi-compliant gear.

What I did is that I put 4 tracks in to play around with loops on them, find the ones I liked, and then used Jack/Catia to send the Mixxx output into Qtractor to record an audio track while playing with levels and effects - pretty basic. I don’t think you can open Mixxx as a plugin inside anything else, it really is a massive standalone program.

Hope that makes sense!

Yeah, it makes perfect sense, thanks for the detailed response

I would never have thought to make loops like that, so you’ve given me some inspiration for something to try out in an upcoming Junto.

The reason I didn’t download it already was actually resisting trying to take on yet another thing to learn while I’ve got hardware and a DAW that I’m only just getting a grasp of (not to mention sound & music in general ). But you’ve certainly tempted me again!
