Thanks for working with my track :grinning:. I like the plane drone you added: it really reinforces the imagery you were connecting it with (to be honest I didn’t have a clear image when making it). The gentle guitar lines in the main sections work really well, but I absolutely love the slide guitar you did in the bridge! I thought my bridge (especially the transition to it) was the weakest element but you managed to transform it. Great work!

This is the second asynchronous collaboration within the Disquiet Junto project Solitary Ensembles x 2. The left channel of this track is Jorg @ Denzo’s track for disquiet0429, chosen by chance (I’m very happy with my chance number generator ) . On the right channel I tried to create a dialogue with this track using electromagnetic noise processed in the INA GRM Evolution device.

For anyone who really feels the need to totally automate their total Disquiet Junto production process (people like me, I guess), below is a MAX patch that will automate your selection of a random track from last week’s playlist. (The output is 0-based.)

Community members should feel free to feverishly port this to ChucK, Processing, Scheme, Common Lisp, Scala, C, C++, FORTRAN 77, COBOL, RPL, BASIC, or your language of choice.

2/3 of a trio, using the drums from @gusp - his super relaxed and natural 7/4 drums just put me in a sort of half-way-to-prog-rock mood so I took two EPs and a mono synth (all virtual of course) and the following resulted. Ready for a great solo or an amazing guitar line or who knows what else?!

I couldn’t obey the panning rules, sorry, it just sounded too good with @gusp original stereo field and the two EPs panned slightly apart. If you want to modify panning or mix (and probably both are a good idea) all the stems without the fade and so on are here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ryo4u99v6hgfe51/AABjlFbRL7xSX2_vIO7VwnIGa?dl=0

And here is the next one (picked by random), based on stijn hüwels https://soundcloud.com/steiner/magnolia-disquiet0429.
Put mostly slide guitar on this, at the end some tremolo effect (which resembles the title).
Some stompboxes used, otherewise amped by Ableton’s blues amp & 12 cabinet. Besides that, some reverb added. I think there is still a lot of place left for a third player…

The third dice went to @MattDavisMusic and his deafening Bass Drones.

Because the Soma Labs Lyra-8 is able the produce very high notes, I added two tracks of improvisation with it, to accompany the deep bass drone. As we are doing drone here, I made it longer … plus some field recording.

I did not use left-right separation, because it felt wrong. Although this track now has even more pressure, i think there is room enough for something else … like jackhammers or so

(Sh… I checked to see if the Bass Drones were still available but I missed their usage by some minutes …)

I have added some noise to @Ethan_Hein rather zen harmonica track . Guess i have trampled all over it with ideas of the body and technology competing and working together. It was meant to be optimistic and I kept thinking of the intro to the velvets Lady Godiva.
The soundsclouds is here:

Thank you ethan.

I have to admit that I listened to only a part of all contributions that were available for this round. One of the first pieces I heard was @baconpaul piano piece called “A Third”, and I fell in love with it right from the start. I went for the obvious and added an upright bass to it. If someone adds a ride cymbal now, very quiet and suggestive, like a ride cymbal from on of the last Talk Talk records, then it would be perfect, I guess.
Ah, and maybe Mark Hollis howling some beautiful lyric. But that´s not possible, sadly.
I rolled the dice for two more contributions, not sure if I find the time, would love to.
Stay safe! Regards from a flat in the very north of Berlin. Chocolate cake smell right now, so things are not soo bad yet.

Hey everyone, I had a typo in the name of my track from last week, so it did´n´t end up in Marc´s playlist. If anyone needs an electric guitar track, here is one: https://soundcloud.com/paulchristophrose/solitary-ensembles-tele-sunday-morning-disquiet0249

That’s fantastic. Thank you!

And warm wishes to Berlin - I spent a chunk of the mid 90s there and have a warm place in my heart for the city.

Thanks! A couple of my old friends, a husband and wife, liked our dual track and want to add to it. They’re not Disquiet Junto members, but they are musicians. So I sent them links to this week’s and last week’s //// discussions. I hope they will participate next week.

Oh no. I’ll add it now, and thanks for sharing it here.

took the fantastic track by @akstuhl @akstuhl Andykstuhl – Dispersal-foundry-disquiet0429 and added some guitar with quite a few effects (see the picture)–gnarliest is a Vaux Flores DOSWave which comes in about half way thru, along with a Fuzz Factory. The guitar is a Greco Les Paul copy from the 80s, about half the pounds (and half the dollars) of the real thing, but a fabulous guitar nonetheless.

I love MIJ guitars. I have bought and sold two JV Strats both from '82, a Pearl LP custom copy made in the Matsumoku factory in '79 and a really nice Epiphone Elitist LP standard from the early 2000s. If I could keep them all I would have but I don’t like to have more than 2 at a time and I currently have two
USA fenders I adore.

Hi there, I used a random number generator to choose 3 tracks - nice not to have to decide, because there were so many interesting possibilities.

The Amp Fractured Cello of Candle Nine has so much beautiful detail in the distortion and reverb that i thought it would be stupid to kind of solo over it, so I just played along on a bass guitar, hopefully there’s some room there for someone else!

pollen’s CROWDS has a worrying sneeze it it! I hope that pollen is OK, was it just hayfever? CROWDS has already so much going on that I thought I’d improvise (zither and some little percussion) just imitating some of the movements in the piece. Very curious to see what this might become!

and last but not least:

mgmrmojo’s slow percussion in “alone as a group” reminded me of tibetan rituals, so I got my horn out, but it sounds more like a drunken soldier sounding the retreat. Bit of delay and zither resonance on the horn too.

keep healthy and looking forward to the next phase. x Gus

that’s great Paul, we just need some lyrics about unicorns or something and a (too) long guitar solo and it would be perfect prog!

You exactly get the vibe I was going for. I should have worn a cape when I recorded it!!

My second random source track from disquiet0429 by William Boldenweck was quite a challenge. Finally I decided to enhance the perceived darkness of the source track by adding an electronically processed tuba part on the right channel.
