Hi all,
Here’s my twosome:

I have chosen a real person for my doppelganger, Tsukenichi Suzuki, composer of the theme to Midnight Diner, which I am appreciating yet again:

I love that show. What a treat to see it mentioned here. The manga is pretty great, too.

A duet with a piano-playing alter ego (I can’t play piano).

I recorded a track from my Christmas present to myself, the Moog Werkstatt-01, passed through my modular. I then used the track to create a piano score and accompanied the original with piano and strings, provided by Arturia Piano V2, Newfangled Audio’s Generate and Sonivox’s Orchestral Companion. The original Werkstatt piece was also passed through Glitchmachines’ Fracture.

i… uh… :see_no_evil: may have gone a little overboard here(got a little excited coming up with a max patch that sounds like boards)…

i realize the instructions were to make up an ‘imaginary’ collaborator, but this one is real :scream: Max/MSP has been yelling at me for years to create a ‘Boards Of Canada’ soundalike band. I kept telling Max it’s totally unnecessary, no one’s ever going to sound as good as Boards at being Boards. Max insists, with my OCD, and Max’s abundance of free time, we can at least put out as much music that sounds like Boards as Autechre does that sounds like Autechre( …doesn’t sound quite right now that i read that back… ah well, i never question Max :man_shrugging:)
so me and Max put together this entire 5-song EP over the weekend(i may have playlist-bombed here… hope it’s not bad disquietiquette :speak_no_evil:)

It is wonderful. Here he is playing the theme in a bar before he passed away:

A duet with Bach. I started with hymn-like choral progression, added a hip hop beat, and then quoted from Bach’s chorale Aus Meines Herz.

Andreas likes software, ambient pads and (mostly) avoids repetition – and he has recently tried out “Quadrivium” by Giorgio Sancristoforo. Saerdna likes hardware, beats and repetition and tries to do rhythms with noises recorded out of the “Soma Ether” by Vlad Kreimer.

I found 2 unused sample recordings by these guys and helped them to put them together (admittedly: overhasty) for the “Remainder Duet”. (Irrelevant fun fact: The loop in Reaper runs with a bpm of 100.695…)

My “friend” Johnny Ennui is tired of my nonsense… he thrives on conflict and rejection. A great studio hang.

Car is dependable, always starts and keeps a steady rhythm and a somewhat okay pitch. It helps out when things goes wrong. There was a thought out plan and it didn’t work out and it was raining. So that’s what we recorded. The track is a mash of stacked recordings: one is me driving to the recording location. Another is me sitting in Car waiting for it to stop raining (it didn’t) and then fiddling with the heating knobs and going through random radio stations and a podcast. I managed to get some door, engine and ignition details thats also in there.

All recordings was sent through modulating comb filters, delays and Eventides Blackhole and it came out all right. Thank you Car.

Hey All, NON_SUBMISSION Did a little something with RajaTheResidentAlien’s excellent tracks. This is made for subwoofers. If you want to hear an attempt at BOC but not really- check it out. Happy Holidays!

@Pineyb Johhny sounds like a nice bloke  Great track really dig the guitar or is it a synth?

@krakenkraft Have no idea how you create those croaking sounds, it sounds freaking cool. I also really like that shimmery drone. Cool track!

Good track  , can I ask what is the toy doing on board the contact mic ? I have a wind up toy that walks and it creates a cool sound on a contact mic partly because it vibrates as it unwinds. Just wondering what the mechanism of yours is ?

@undermulden The Croaking sounds are multiple instances of a recording out of the soma labs ether device, and I think these are unwanted noises, but I like them anyway. Some instances were bent via Filterstep VST.

I made you a Wetransfer link (that may stay for 14 days or so)

Thank you, I must say that is very kind of you. I’ll check it
I have a regular “phonetap” and a Lom Elektrousi, but I have mostly only gotten the same clicks and buzzing with them. I checked the Ether out and it sounds somewhat more advanced in what it can pick up. I might have to try a different approach for capturing EM emissions.
