I randomly chose 3 Placebo tracks, then listened to them and responded the most to #45 “derbydrive” by @chaonaut from @gibbsdavidl’s piece “Reverse Java”. I mixed and stereoized those two tracks, then combined them with some recent recordings of waves and dock creaks at our local small boat harbor which I tweaked to fit nicely with the piece.

Super inspired by spaceship sounds, I went a little Forbidden Planet with my Monologue and a Norns running Blippoo on @morgulbee’s spaceship take on @abalone’s ticks and snaps.

Sounds like passing time in the engine room on a starship

The random number generator gave me a piece by @wagneric and @Xylr (this one). I had almost no time to complete it so I quickly designed a sound then did one take of keyboard playing. I decided it was missing something more so I did a second take of a lead. Nothing very inspiring, but it is at least something.

The correctly panned version can be found here.

Here is my (probably late?) submission:

So… based on @abalone and @morgulbee 's contributions (thank you both!), I wanted to add maybe some whistling, maybe some guitar.

I’ve had a sick kid the last couple of days, which is why I’m only submitting now, but it also meant that it was tricky to record anything. So here, I am embracing it and layering a few different, mainly botched, attempts. What was supposed to be clean recordings of melodies ends up being field recording, a toddler asking for extra attention and a biscuit (justified! and eventually hitting me with a broom too…), the neighbour’s kid asking where is the other one of my kids, some birds, cars and buses…

Others here reminding us that this is a place for experimentation and learning and reflection encouraged me to submit. This is more about what’s around and the uncertainty, and less about what was actually planned.

Zoom H1 for recording, Audacity for layering.

Thanks everyone for this great three (four?)-week collaboration. It’s lovely.

Hello all. I chose to add some Volca FM organ + Avalanche Run delay/reverb to a duet from @Leonard_Bowman & @homeontheland. I tried to make sure I was adding to, but not distracting from, their wonderful textural tracks. So I chose what I hoped would be a complimentary timbre, and kept parts to a pedal-tone droning bass, and a midrange minimal melody part that also added some ringing overtones. Please hang out and enjoy the drones… :v:

Nicely done @sevenism !

Thanks for building upon ours! I don’t mind the dissonance, it kind of “falls onto its feet” after a while, I think. I really like it :slight_smile:
It puts the “Disquiet” in Disquiet Junto!

Thank you for joining us, @blunderspublik ! I love you addition! :slight_smile:
Listening to what others added on top of my channel, I really regret having used such a gratingly high-pitched patch, which reminds me I have to listen to what I do on different headphones / speakers… But I think your synth does a good job a balancing it and taking the attention away from the repetitive buzzing :sweat_smile:

Layers and layers and layers of warmth and softness!

Wow. Thank you for the introduction, and the kind, glowing compliments concerning Chris’ and my track, “The Wolf’s Baleen!”

You’ve done it justice with your additions, as it is even more haunting them before. I am humbled, and proud that you did this. Thank you!

@Peter The cadence and tonalilty of the violin works really well with the other tracks, well done.

@Creatures_Once reature_once Track 1 is so weird and nice, great work!

@zoundsabar The fieldrecordings work really well with the other tracks

I’m listening to the results as I eat breakfast, so only a few comments but I’ll plan to come back and listen to more tomorrow.

@DeDe

I’ve been following Analoc’s track for the last couple of weeks, which sounded sorta complete when I first heard it. Your version is a rich result and all the contributions seem like they sit in the mix together.

@Paul_Reiners

Love the wild variety of sounds here. So many contrasts.

@mzero

Spacious sounding and the imagery is evocative. That bass is kinda like the rug in The Big Lebowski in that it really ties the room together.

@Glitcher

These textures work well together. It’s kinda harmonious, although harmony seems misleading.

@kn00t

Great tune and still so much scope for others to join in.

@Anatol

Feel like I’m having an out-of-body experience. Is that reverb bending pitch?

@gis_sweden

I like the filtering. Sounds like I imagine food poisoning feels.

Your chords add a nice stately pacing and movement to a nervous piece. Very nice!

Finally, it’s here Food Poisoning! The only filter you need.

Yeah, Valhalla Supermassive turns even simple sounds into modulated reverb washes for ambient pieces. Still can’t get over the fact that he’s giving it away for free.

Hello, everyone who participated in this project (Junto 0474: Police Action). This note is a request for everyone to make their finished tracks downloadable. Tomorrow’s project, 0475, will be a continuation of this sequence. We won’t be making quartets, no. Something else.

Hey Junto, Man some great tracks from these collaborations. I feel this week was more difficult because you had more to try to sync with. I did several trios and put in a playlist if anyone wanted to check them out. Much respect to what has been done this past few weeks. Makes for very enjoyable listening. I still feel like I might return to some of the duets and try to do something with them but I am looking forward to whatever Marc has planned with the next prompt.

Peace, Hugh

Cool. I’ve added to the playlist. Thanks!

@Bick_Brannigan I love what you did (twice!!) with the Ryan’s @hightowersdeepwells and My duet! Really takes it to an unexpected place

@bassling Really like what you’ve done here with the addition of the bass :slight_smile:

Feels like it gives everything else a bit of backbone, feels quite foundational to the track which is strange considering it was added last :smiley:

@Creatures_Once Great addition. I didn’t know what a rev d tongue drum was so I googled it and now I’m jealous! I think the addition of more real rather than synthesised tones suits this piece particularly well. And whatever the messing around without rhyme or reason involved the end result is slightly warbled and alien sounding, I like it :slight_smile:
