Here’s my second contribution—some subtle synth pads mixed into the subtle sounds of @zoundsabar and @gentil:

I used a preset that I created on my Minilogue called “Hairdryer” and recorded a simple four chord progression that bends up and down. Over the course of the track the cutoff moves up then back down, so the early granulated chords might not even register on laptop speakers. Thank you to everyone involved!

@Noimspartacus’s orphan is on the right, and strange but comforting strings from @BennDeMole are on the left.

My part in the centre is from a rusty FM beatbox built in Max. With it I tried to add frequencies that weren’t present in the other parts. This trio still sounds quite spacious to me, as though none of the participants wanted the responsibility of taking lead.

Silence at the end is just a generous whoops from the audio editor, but what it means is that the next track in your SoundCloud playlist has to wait a bit before intruding.

I love what you did with the track—the texture was gritty and lo-fi and did I say I loved it? :slightly_smiling_face: Reminded me of my cassette-filled youth. Track name is great too! Awesome that you kept the theme going!

RNG gave me the lovely piece by mdh and The Land for my second outing. It was an easy joy to let inspiration guide me to my sax and play along…

Thank you everyone!!

Love the sound of your gentle saxophone floating over top of our all our blips and chirps!

My friend @tsatse can’t post on the forum yet, but here is his first contribution to the junto !
He added some flute to the bongos and guitar impros from the two previous Juntos.
Welcome to the Junto @tsatse !

I picked “Fog In The Chanel; Continent Cut Off” by Torpid Scorpion @rens that is based on “Jam Time” by Ryan @hightowersdeepwells with the idea to add light drums. With drums added something was still missing I felt - so I added repitched and reversed parts of the original track.

Up-front confession: I’ve sort of recreated the lonely broken church organ sound from my other submission for this Disquiet, but from a very different starting point.

I’ve studiously avoided doing any form of singing/vocals in my projects. The thought of it almost induced a panic attack. However, I then read @krakenkraft’s post about adding vocals to a track when he obviously had little to no confidence in his singing abilities. But did that stop him? No. It did not. I was - genuinely - inspired. There’s something about putting your voice out there that I think takes quite a bit more courage than shoving samples through various effect plugins, i.e. what I usually do.

Ran an RNG and got halF unusuaL & Blunderspublik. Played it through a few times and then started recording wordless vocalese-y phrases on a Tascam DR05 jammed up against my throat. On the fifth or sixth run I got something I wasn’t totally unhappy with, at which point I did my usual piling on of effects because I’m still a coward about my singing. Main processing was running it through a totally wet plate reverb and waveshaping in Absynth (of course). I did also gradually fade in a +1-octave pitch shift of my voice-noise which is just about discernable from about 1’35".

And the result, as I say, is quite similar to the organ-y drone on my other submission, but this has an organic quality I find quite pleasing. Hey, it’s a start. When I take The Voice by storm in a few years’ time, let this be noted as the point where it all began. Yes.

I hope @halF_unusuaL and @blunderspublik are OK with my addition.

Edit: @blunderspublik - just seen the Oliver Coates video you posted - wow! Nope, never heard of him but definitely going to check more of his stuff out. Love it!

I randomly selected the contribution “Comma-Cosmic Duet”, from @JochenEdmund and @comma which features the coffee machine at the data center. With some synths to pull this together, I arrived at Cosmic Java. I can’t guarantee that you will like it but I can promise this piece is better than the coffee at the data center without ever having tasted it (am I right?).

thank you ! Happy to be finally here with this third layer on @abalone 's and @geoffroy 's duo. I wish I had time for another contribution but that wouldn’t be kind for my neighbours right now. looking forward to 0475

I was really taken by the duet @halF_unusuaL put together with @Anatol and not so sure it needed any addition, but recorded a violin part to try to fit in.

Collaboration with MDH and The Land.

Added some flute, reversed and normal Glockenspiel with small splicing effects.
(Vst’s and past fabric from pure magnetik) Enjoyed playing along to this one. It’s a lovely vibe.

@mdh definitely got the ball rolling in an excellent direction on this, and I love the way you gently capped it off!

I added some spacey delay efx to this excellent moody duet from
@wagneric + @sevenism

All Sputnik Modular chain featuring a heavily modulated Four Tap Delay.

I only had time for one contribution this week, chose at random and was happy to participate with these folks.

The beautiful and compelling duet by Chris Ledwidge and Michael Ash Sharbaugh, @Mikash69 and @Chris_Ledwidge, entitled, “The Wolf’s Baleen” evokes the lone agony that the wolf must endure. I tried to capture the fate of the wolf with recorder and violin tracks.

Stunning and otherworldly, clearly meant to be. What an impressive community we have that can produce something so creative and cohesive over time and distance. Slow improvisation, indeed!

Track 1 of 2 - Built upon last week’s track by @halF_unusuaL - halF roboduB [disquiet0473] - with Lake Forest Sound Machine by halF unusuaL | Free Listening on SoundCloud and week one’s track from @ryanruppe Lake Forest Sound Machine ROBODUB (disquiet0472) by Lake Forest Sound Machine | Free Listening on SoundCloud.

Started with attempt to play some drums on the Push, then gave up and decided to go for some random-ish generative sequencing (I think that’s the right term?). I have dabbled with that in the past on various Live devices or some hardware “chance” effecrts (always with fun results) but have been wanting to play around with that more. Always great to hear something and say wow, I don’t think I could have played that myself, thanks machine friend! So I pulled some samples from a Mr Bill pack I’ve been wanting to check out into drum rack in Live, then added the Melodic Steps Max for Live device from the great Creative Extensions pack. Hit the random button a bunch, tweaked it for a while until it sounded jolly and let it roll. Added second drum track with same device, but randomized the parameters again, then automated muting and unmuting the track randomly. Also added some sub-bass, and a “bass” sample loop from Mr. Bill that made me think of baby elephants for some reason (not that I’ve ever heard one, but there’s the title); chopped in Simpler and put both those tracks through same device. I think the results worked out ok and mostly fit the delicious madness of the other two tracks. I’d probably refine more with more time. This is the right kind of weird that makes me feel great.

Track 2 for the week: Built upon the captivating previous creations by @Peter Peter-eisenhauer – Disquiet0472-jamtime-1-of-3 and @mdh Matthewh538 – Placebo-effect-disquiet0473

For my contribution, I improvised along with their track on the Rav D minor tongue drum. And I still haven’t gotten out of the habit of using “tongues” on the name of tracks where I use that drum. I’m a child. Well, “tongue” just sounds cool. Played along for two takes through, and used the first (that way I can totally say “one take only, nailied it” right?) Then took a hatchet, a butchers as the brit’s say, through and just kinda messed things up a little. Looped a few phrases and generally messed around with the recording with no real rhyme or reason I can recall today. Recorded video for this I hope to tweak (take a butchers to … ) and upload to the tube in a day or two. Cover image is the other contributor’s cover images blended with video still of me playing the drum.
