My original idea was to make a dub mix. But it didn’t really end up that way. I used my track from last week because I didn’t have time to hunt down the individual parts for a different track.

On the left track, I put an “Afraid of Bees” flanger effect. I left the right track as it was because it was already kind of dub-sounding—at that point I was still planning on making a dub mix.

I ended up not making a dub mix because I would have had to cut out half of the other guys’ contributions and that didn’t seem fair, and, the way the left track built up, it wouldn’t work anyway.

I took my piano fugue and made it a bit more sparse. I left the piano as a repeating pedal. I turned the bass voice into a sort of Moog synthesizer sound. Then I took the Alto and Soprano voices and turned those into drums (which was easy because they were MIDI tracks—and it made it less busy melodically, anyway).

This week I randomly ended up with #25, The Third Man by @stefans (stefan_strasser), @vgmrmojo, and @joyneski.

The process: about 10 drum loops were cut, and put into two samplers, then drum loops in the pair of samplers were alternatively triggered and envelopes were independently triggered in an attempt to create new patterns. Not sure if it was that successful. The recorded drums (in reaper) were then further cut into loops and arranged with some fast delay. Then the violin was put through the some volume automation with the crystallizer plugin and the (phase) isolated fuzz guitar has a tremolo on it in the second third.

My remix of Ymeynard – An-obvious-lesson-disquiet0474 by ymeynard with Michel Banabila and noimspartacus. I very much liked the interplay between noimspartacus original loop and Michel’s bass line and I looped a small segment where I gated the one track with the other – that starts and ends the mix and I use it as a drop after one of the spoken word episodes. I also used some EQ and panning to highlight some of the great percussion that Yves had added to the track.

I rolled a 25 - The Third Man by @stefans @vgmrmojo and @joyneski, (I did the remix not realizing it had already been done by @gibbsdavidl!) So here’s an alt remix I guess lol. I put the original solo violin and drum tracks into Koala Sampler on my iPad and sped up and looped the trio to get the bass part. Chopped everything up and put it through lots of the crazy Koala FX. Finally reassembled everything in Ableton.

I chose @rhein piece from last week, built on work by @Chris_Ledwidge and @mattmadd. I see now I wasn’t alone in choosing it, so hopefully I’ve been able to create a different take.

I downloaded stems from the duo, cut things up in parts and created some background drones with timestretching. I selected a short segment of piano that I liked from Chris’s piece and looped and treated with effects from Supercell in vcvrack. Pulled a bit from the end of the trio and did the same. I was trying to go with rhein’s walk in the forest idea and make it more introspective and obtuse and perhaps a bit meloncholy, as that’s what most my walks end up being anymore.

This takes the week-three track from @chaonaut, made using tracks from @BennDeMole and @Noimspartacus, doubles the tempo to 144, extracts the three parts and applies various granular effects and reverb to the tracks along with gates, filters and distortion.

Had less time this week so sliding just one effort under the wire; ran an RNG and got Fuzzy Chime, Viola And Flute by Noodle Twister, MDH and the Land. Fed the original track through a bass/mid-range/higher frequency band splitter, and threw various distortions, volume gating envelopes, pitch-shifting, delays, more volume gating and filtering on each band until I got percussive effects I ended up being quite happy with. The delays on the mid and upper frequency range noises were set to 5 and 7 beat repeat rates, so they throw the beat around a bit at points but - to me - it still kinda (mostly) fits - I think…hope the original participants don’t feel I’ve stomped on it too much.
Not sure it counts as a remix as I’ve just added another layer of glitchery. :frowning:

This is a remix of the great creation by @mattmadd Mattmadd – Duodronedrumtrio-disquietjunto0474-revised-and-corrected which built upon the amazing first two creations from @joyneski and @melondruie. I heard some shoegazey, droney rock calling me from the depths of this, so I did what my I could to bring that forth. Dug into their tracks, took some bits. Good, good stuff guys! Working in Live. Turned some of their drums to midi as basis for 808 and acoustic drum tracks, then added more to those. Double and triple guitars, added harmonics Resonators device pretty randomly. Added bass and a synth lead (Arturia’s mini-moog soft-synth). Had some late ideas for some vocal things to try over this … maybe on the next version. Rambled on a bit over on the Soundcloud post description about this title. The moral of my story today: always lots more to learn, and I don’t want to forget that. Love this project, thanks for all your contributions here everyone!

This builds on @Glitcher’s 474 from last week, which used 473 from @homeontheland and 472 from @mdh. I pulled expositional bits from the originals and used those samples as raw materials for some new Max instruments. Unintentionally, the result is a very similar duration, but a little dubbier.

It’s probably still Monday somewhere…

Here’s mine. I didn’t realise the track had been already picked until after I had started on it.

I used R to pick a number, because I’m stuck in my R world: sample(1:66, 1) and got 53, the track by:

  1. @Anatol : Analoc – Whatever-comes-disquiet0472
  2. @halF_unusuaL : Half-unusual – Half-placebo-disquiet0473-with-analoc
  3. @Peter : Peter-eisenhauer – Disquiet0474-police-action-with-half-unusual-analoc

Used Mixxx and Audacity to loop the three tracks and stitch them together, with a bedroom/office field recording layered. Ends up being quite “orchestral” I think…

This “hidden feature” of the trios junto sequence was an unexpected delight. I’ll be spending more time with the playlist and, who knows, maybe pitching in a late entry, but meanwhile, shout out to some of the artists who incorporated my own contributions into their remixes/reimaginings:

@bick_brannigan: I love how transformed this was from the sources, backwards and slowed down and chopped up. I also like the “scene changes,” we pass through several environments …And kudos on the bonus remixes!

@melondruie: same piece and also an airy and atmospheric treatment, yet with very different results: a lonely, forest-y sound. Some kind of filter envelope applied on melodic parts?

@creatures_once: You zoom in and amp up the percussive moments, pushing it further in the direction I had in mind. You mentioned shoegaze but to me it also has a groovy krautrock feel, which is a thrill. Love how you brought out harmonic overtones in the guitar.
