@bassling mentioned running out of patience; I definitely felt pressed for time with this week’s entry - wanting to keep working, but needing to take a snapshot of the product to post - but @disquiet has pointed out that the Junto is about shedding as much as anything else; often at the end of that you’re just tired, and don’t have anything to justify your efforts.
@fakeg3nius awesome to hear your retro gear’s contribution here! I like the ambient bits in particular, and how everything still has its space in the mix. Interesting tweaks in the left channel. The outro makes me think there’s a longer version of the track…
@mdh I like your live recording/mixing approach, and recognize similar challenges “fixing” the resulting performance. The result is moody and has a really interesting mix of timbres.
@Anatol this is excellent, a really rewarding take on all the original components, and a fabulous mix! Really neat to hear about your process, particularly how you’ve glued it all together with your own percussion.
@wasabicube that granular reverb is new to me; I might be having thOnk flashbacks. Great drums.
@krakenkraft I, too, may sometimes have been guilty of the pick-your-favourite-stems approach. As with so many of the entries here, the result is really unslottable, a fascinating mix of source material, processing, form and technical approach. Lush final 0:45.
@Bick_Brannigan gosh, that’s some serious Low End.
@Noimspartacus as I remixed the same track, I’m familiar with the components and can better appreciate your work. I like all the messy speed. I think we both found the static in the original.
@homeontheland that’s definitely the school of remixing I attended
