It could also be power related.
If you’re running the paletted color stuff or something else, the grid could be stealing too much power from the pi and causing issues with device recognition.
Check dmesg
for undervoltage warnings?

I’m not using the corored options. demsg shows the two connected Devices. The first one beeing the iconnectMidi4+ and the other is listed as monome with Serial m4676055. No undervoltage warnings.

dmesg shows the device beeing unplugged and then reconnected
OK yeah - I’ve run into this from time to time, but it usually clears up on its own after plugging/unplugging a couple time.
You could try - unplug the grid. Then set all the grid slots in DEVICES>GRID to none
then maybe a RESET and then try plugging the grid in.
FWIW - the libmonome: error in write: Resource temporarily unavailable
is pretty normal (as the grid sending serial data, but doesn’t know what to do with it since norns hasn’t recognized it yet).
Same behaviour even after the reset. I had to do 6 reconnects to get it working after the reset. Then i put it to sleep and after a reboot i have the same problems and stopped plugging it in after ten tries without a connection. I think i’m reflashing the card…
One more thought. If not already - disconnect any other devices (the iconnectMidi4) to try and eliminate any possible interference
already tried that without success. I will do the reflash soon. That download is really slow…
Edit: Same problem after reflashing the image.
It’s alive (wrong adapter so slightly underpowered, but hey it works)!
Many thanks to @okyeron for troubleshooting.
I’ve built mine but can’t use it due to lack of a proper enclosure. Has anyone tried with Ponoko or similar services? I’m using @okyeron template and if I understand correctly I’ll have to use 3mm acrylic for layer 1,2,4,5 and 5mm eva foam for layer 3. Is that correct?
You can use 3mm for that spacer layer (layer 3), it’s just I like the height better with the extra 2mm of material. Also you’d need shorter standoffs.
Another thing I’d not tried is one layer of 1/8in + 1/16in to get close to 5mm
Also I should update that design file as I think there’s a slightly newer one
Reflashing the teesy solved my connection problems. Thanks for your troubleshooting ideas @okyeron !
I just finished my enclosure using just 3mm acrylic, didn’t use the EVA foam in the end. Works OK like that as well.
There is indeed a newer layout I think, maybe look at the “last updated” date on the files?
Which service did you use? I’ve just checked Ponoko and the cheaper option is $145.59 (with shipping to Italy)
I used Laser cut studio in Finland, total cost 73€ using matte black acrylic. No idea about shipping costs to Europe, though.
Check Razorlab - which is the same or similar to Ponoko, but based in the UK.
Ponoko quoted me £45 for an acrylic fates case a couple of days ago.
I did consider them for a 128 that’s In progress.
@okyeron what roughly was the cost of your case with foam and acrylic?
I imagine it’s too expensive here in UK at $146

Thanks for the info! Since the libraries (and their laser cutters) are closed at the moment, this seems like a viable option for me – being Helsinki based – too. Did you ask if they’d cut the EVA layer too?
Didn’t ask about cutting the EVA layer, and I didn’t end up using the EVA at all in the end. PM me if you are interested in the rest of the EVA sheet.
I did some customization with my 128 case, so there may not be an exact correspondance, but my total cost from Ponoko was 123USD. The 5mm acrylic layer alone was 63USD; I picked a silvered black acrylic for the 3mm top layer - that came to 25USD.
Thanks, that seems a fair price.

Thanks, will check them out
