DIY option is here

The Sevilla Soft works fine

There are bigger, spendier options (iconnectivity is an option many on this forum use I believe) with several ports and midi hubs but if you just want a dongle this will do.

The midi demo sounds so good! I didn’t even think to feed back into norns for the softcut commands :star_struck:

I pulled out my old, dusty presonus interface and a midi din-usb cable  The Sevilla Soft mentioned above looks like a nice (and much less cumbersome) alternative.

I actually just got mine from @okyeron yesterday! Still haven’t had a chance to connect it up. Been hectic work week and it’s only Tuesday!

@kasselvania, I used a 2host while coding the midi stuff! Worked perfectly!

God, can’t wait to hook it up and make some very odd noise… it’ll also be a good chance to try out Dunes again and see if I get the same errors (if so, I’ll post it). Probably won’t be able to do anything till Wednesday or Thursday.

Ok, I’m still new to all of this, so please forgive the possibly dumb question: I’ve got dunes sending midi to a Behringer model D, and the resulting audio coming back into Norns just fine (can hear through my headphones, connected to Norns). I have matched @Justmat’s sequence from the delightful midi tutorial video, but either I can’t tell what softcut is doing to the audio, or I’ve done something wrong. Or both? Probably both.

Edit: Here’s a recording of the sequence coming out of Model D back into Norns. https://soundcloud.com/mattlowerymusic/dunes-and-model-d/s-De7KK

Hey! Thanks for giving Dunes a spin  Re. softcut, Dunes starts up with the delay (i.e. softcut) level set to 0 by default. To turn it up, head to the params menu (you can also adjust feedback here as well).

Once you’ve turned the delay parameter up, head back into Dunes and put a couple of 2 and 4 commands in your sequence – these will multiply and divide softcut’s rate, which should be noticeable.

Let me know how it goes!

Just a note, to clarify; I wrote the midi code, but the video and everything else is all @Olivier

Whoa Nelly, that did it! Thanks @Olivier! I will buy you ice cream at Norns Fest 2019! Excellent script- and there goes my coming weekend!

This is cool. What’re you using for sound generation?

Midi out of Dunes into a Behringer Model D; Triangle wave on osc 1 and a touch of saw blended in on osc 2. :hugs:

@mattloweryNice! This sounds awesome. Glad to hear softcut swirling around in that recording too.

And many thanks for the kinds words, everyone! If you have an idea for the script, please do share. I’ve got a couple of things I’ll explore soon for this version of Dunes, but I spent the day working on a sampling-focused spin on it.

Softcut is amazing.

Okay, I did two really simple little doodles with this. It is amazingly fun. I’m not sure of POSTING them, since they are initial attempts, but its really entertaining and totally capable of burning an hour trying this with different soft synths and the build in one too!

As well, this has been the first patch in which I have midi mapped controls to my UC-33. Having all of the LFO and FM params on knobs and sliders allows for some bonkers tweaking!

I will continue to practice with this and hopefully get the strength to post soon enough.

YES. I want to hear this midi-mapped madness! :control_knobs:

I know that I am very much over-posting on this thread today but, man, this script is a blast. Here’s Dunes sequencing a Korg Minilogue, with a bit of H9 tape delay thrown in for good measure. The rhythmic stuff at the beginning (before the filter opens up) is a lot of fun.

Yeah, your shit is WAY cooler than what I’ve got. Just posting some basics I made with this. Much more chill, less effects, but it was fun to make and worth sharing:

REALLY like this script!

Was wondering…
could you setup the commands so they are in alphabetical order?

zipping through them to find a command sometimes takes a min to find the one i’m looking for.

also…
would it be possible to create load and save states like MANGL?

Thanks for making a neato noiz control script!
