Not an ADDAC fanboy but the pedal integrator by them is the smallest and most hasslefree option I have owned. I tried with attenuators and clean boost pedals before but it was always too mushy/colored. Most likeley some impedance issues but not worth deepdiving into it. But I totally would get a small desktop or pedal device if it would be a great in out with basic mixing and maybe a send with line level as I took all my sample stuff out of my rack recently again.

do you need that many separate send/returns? I think most people with a small system would probably only have one or maybe two pedal send/returns for a couple individual pedals or one or two pedal chains. not knocking it if you’d use them, but it would just be atypical :stuck_out_tongue:

Another option could be 2 Please Exist Meng Qi modules if the effects are line level. The stereo attenuator he offers could also be added. Not the most smallest config for conserving HP, but might be fun.

haha fair point. I don’t have huge collection of pedals either, but i do love stacking shorter and longer delays at different points in the signal path. A lot of times I play the pedals like modules, just without CV inputs (for the most part). Also, I’m increasingly gigging with both guitar and modular simultaneously, so it is sort of becoming this elaborate ecosystem. Atypical is a great word for it :slight_smile:

I did find this article from Reverb. In addition to talking about using mixer sends, end of chain effects, and modules (all of which I’ve used/done except for dedicated send/return modules), it also points generally towards reamp boxes. It specifically talks about the Pigtronix Keymaster, but it seems to have been discontinued. I also found the Revival Electric Synapse which looks similar. So it looks like there are options out there, just not nearly as many.

I was half joking about the 4ms pods but truthfully it could be the most compact option for what I’m looking for. One of the promo shots even shows them next to a pedal!

Pedal format I/O seems like a no brainer!
Ive been seriously looking into building a pedal interface in pedal former. It just makes more sense. But I’m no good at creating new circuits so I bought a couple of Ladik 520 modules the 4 channel preamp and 4 channel line out. So far so good. I’m planning on putting them in a pedal box as soon as my power arrives. The pods look like a awesome solution too!

Yep, the Pigtronix Keymaster can do it. It’s a re-amp pedal. Downside is that’s mono, and I believe, out of production, but they’re generally available if you poke around. It does have two seperate effects loops though, which is pretty neat!

I mean, perhaps that’s not a euro-pedal interface in the true sense of the meaning but this might work for outputting some of your signals into the pedal world. Getting it back into your case is probably another issue but that possibly depends on your signal flow and whether your effects are end of chain and could be fed straight into the final outboard mixer as well:

Picked up the Endorphines Milky Way recently. It’s a solid little module for the HP. I hate that the two controls require a button press, but it follows from the UI of their other modules. You’re not going to get much else in the way of stereo multi-effects in 6hp. Same effects banks as the Blck_Noir and Grand Terminal.

TipTop has been teasing new effects. If Z-Verb is the dedicated, smaller Valhalla of my dreams, that would be very desirable for a me, but we’ll see…

I recently got the Intellijel Pedal I/O 1u module.

I’d been planning to get it for a while to use for external effects (Quadraverb, pedals etc.), but as it takes and outputs instrument leve I have actually mostly been using it for bringing guitar in, or outputting to a guitar amp.
Previously I used an Ears module, but now I save some 3U HP, can use it as an effects send and instruent in, and if I want an envelope follower I can just use Maths or Morphagene. It’s also nice and tidy using the 1/4-inch sockets on the back.

Definitely recommend it if you have an Intellijel 7U case.

My main goal back then was a Fx-box of modular stuff. As always it came out different.
I started with the clouds module wich I still use to effect external signals. I added a few delays and filters to shape sound and started adding a modulation source…
one day I bought a rings module to get some new ideas into the case. Now I`m trying to decide wether to build a real modular synth or go down further the fx-box route.

It all started with the knowledge that modular stuff puts out a hotter signal, so I needed to amplify the signal to use it properly.

I got these guys. Way tougher built than my makenoise rosie. I love the quarter inch inputs (you have to buy these extra) and the feel of the knobs. Very sturdy.

The visual feedback through the LEDs is an extra I love, too.

I had the v1 for a few months and didn’t like it at all, for reasons similar to what you’ve stated about the v2. It felt broken, the controls were inconsistent with points along the knob-travel where they just seemed to cut out completely, and unless each delay was panned hard left or right the wet output level would drop so low that it was barely audible.

Ah, I didn’t know about Milky Way. I’ve been waiting for the Happy Nerding 4hp stereo effects module, FX Aid.

The demos for FX Aid sound like it’s processing external sound. Doubtful it takes line level in, but maybe… it would be nice :slight_smile:

Sadly, not Valhalla in a module, but there are 3 of them, and they’re 8hp. The official demos don’t do much for me, but maybe someone else’s coverage will provide a better overview:

Was also really hoping for valhalla in a smaller form factor than the Z-DSP.
Also unfortunately no clock sync, although the reason for that being the (CV) control of the DSP chip’s clock might be interesting to experiment with.

Z-Verb seems like a nice simple reverb module, and I know that Valhalla isn’t theirs to use without licensing, but I’m pretty suprised they didn’t work something out.

Most of my fx have ended up in my euro case somehow. I got one of those Land Devices mixers recently for a completely different purpose, but I’ve been experimenting with it as a way to run synths through modular effects and I’m kind of stoked with it. It has plenty of clean gain and a unique way of routing sound out of two mono outputs that makes it surprisingly flexible.

Thoughts on the reverb? Looking for a reverb with low HP and it seems like a good fit. Also, when you start up does it load the effect that was last used or reset?

If I recall correctly, yes. I’ve been feeling fickle around reverb lately, and I’m currently undecided on it.

This dropped, is cheap, and sounds pretty dang good: reverb, chorus, and clockable delay. Too bad I don’t have a 1u row. :upside_down_face:

They’re gonna sell an awful lot of those.
