haha fair point. I don’t have huge collection of pedals either, but i do love stacking shorter and longer delays at different points in the signal path. A lot of times I play the pedals like modules, just without CV inputs (for the most part). Also, I’m increasingly gigging with both guitar and modular simultaneously, so it is sort of becoming this elaborate ecosystem. Atypical is a great word for it 
I did find this article from Reverb. In addition to talking about using mixer sends, end of chain effects, and modules (all of which I’ve used/done except for dedicated send/return modules), it also points generally towards reamp boxes. It specifically talks about the Pigtronix Keymaster, but it seems to have been discontinued. I also found the Revival Electric Synapse which looks similar. So it looks like there are options out there, just not nearly as many.
I was half joking about the 4ms pods but truthfully it could be the most compact option for what I’m looking for. One of the promo shots even shows them next to a pedal!
