I have a DD-6, and it really bugs me that you can’t go 100% wet with it. Still useful though

you can get a wet-only output by plugging a mono signal into the B input while monitoring the A output. the B output is the dry signal.

edit: forgot to link to the manual, it’s super helpful

oh, thanks for the tip, I had no idea! I bought it used and didn’t suspect it had different modes depending on how it was plugged in.

I try to keep my fx within Eurorack if playing live as CV control is quite important for some patches. I’ll usually have one external reverb on a mix bus.

Both, though on external gear there’s always a little friction with cables. In some cases with levels as well.

CV control of fx parameters is also super useful for me, which makes external gear more of a layer on top of things.

This interface intrigued me, never seen any in the wild.

I am discovering that the real problem with the laptop is that I can only really focus one one thing at a time. It’s either the eurorack or the laptop, so one must be subsidiary to the other or my already exploded head will fall off completely…

I’m enjoying using iPads with the eurorack instead, one for sequencing and the other for effects and recording…

I’ve had an Erbe-Verb in the case recently but I realized I’d rather have that in the box considering reverb plays a big role in a mix — being able to readjust after recording is a big plus. It often ended up being set on a send in Ableton without being modulated a lot either, and also took up two of four inputs on my ES-8.

What I’m realizing is that one of the most interesting thing to me about Eurorack is being able to break away from conventional signal paths, and also something about all the nuance you can get out of feedback that includes ever so slightly chaotic analog devices. (Another very important one is the physicality of the interface.) There’s a part of me that sees no point in replicating what can already be done in the box — probably because this stuff is really expensive, and there’s a desire to maximise the novelty per dollar ratio. But that isn’t necessarily the right way to go about things as this isn’t how one evaluates how musically useful something is. So it’s a bit of a flawed position to hold.

I guess I’ll just experiment with different hardware until I settle (or not) on something I like.

I have all my effects outside the case, aside from a Reflex Liveloop. I do think I’ll add a dedicated delay to my rack eventually because I love what I can get from modulating one, and my options are too limited when sending euro CV out to a pedal.

What I really want to do though is build a taller case for my 7u with space at the bottom to fill with rack effects. I’ve got an Ibanez AD-202 that I love, and I want to add an old rack verb and one of the Ibanez UE400 multi-effects boxes. Would be great to have everything in one tower, all withing arm’s reach.

hmm, good question! I’ve considered using 1/4 to 1/8" cables to put pedals in between patches. I’ve been looking at the Bastl Hendrikson but for whatever reason it’s really hard to find. that RML guitar pedal interface looks really cool!

ususally though I’ll just put them at the end of the chain. a really fun method is running everything through a distortion / fuzz pedal so you can sound like Yellow Swans!

I have struggled with this one too!! I’m a delay and distortion junky … and it goes on and on from there

Currently I use vsts for all effects, monitoring through them live via a MOTU interface.

I used to have delays and other effects in my rack, but I ultimately thought they took up too much space, especially when I started considering a mixer to create an aux send environment. I also couldn’t have as broad a palette as I wanted from a space and cost perspective.

I’ve also used an external mixer and guitar pedals in the past

All perfectly valid approaches with their own pros and cons (“all of the above” is certainly a valid approach too … but personally I need to narrow down my paths to be productive). I’m trying to give the vsts a real shot though. Theyre certainly not perfect by any means, but it’s flexible, powerful, sounds great, cheap to expand and with plug ins like sandman pro you get all the modulation tools you need

I’m doing a mix at the moment, and foresee that remaining the case. I’ve got a few effects in rack with El Cap and Blue Sky pedals on the stereo output applying a lighter touch. I’m adverse to involving a computer at all though.

My current favortie in-rack combo is Chronoblob with Instand Lo-fi Junky on the feedback send/return. :black_heart:

Lo-Fi Junky on the send return must sound amazing!
Any demos or clips?

Edit: @cosmicsoundexplorer - Here’s a dry recording. Sorry it’s a little noisy. Marbles sequencing. I used the chord root note out (aux) on Plaits adjusted to be plucky to emphasize the effect. Just wanted a simple sound with a bunch of different timbres. It plays dry, with Chronoblob, and with Instant Lo-fi Junky. I scrub the morph knob on Plaits each time. Settings on CB and ILJ as shown in the photo, except as annotated. More notes on SoundCloud.

Dude, that sounds unreal, love that lofi tapey delay vibe. They make such a great pair! Thanks for sharing.

sounds like a different situation to what you’re describing, but I used to have Clouds almost always routed as a send from my external mixer, even for use with the modular.

A “Midas” DM16. For what it’s worth, I didn’t love that configuration, which led me to my position above—happy to have my effects mostly in the box

Im a metric halo user and heyve just bought out their 3d card (finally) and its made me look at running a hybrid system…Ive discovered i work best with limitations so the DAW scares me a little but its really come to a time where i think its a viable option for live improvisation, if it isnt then itll go

Anyone use Nebula?
