I do have an Erbe-Verb on Kijiji Montreal sitting in a case with some Mannequins modules and a Morphagene in the shot. If that happens to be the one you spotted, wether you intend to buy it or not, I’d be happy to hang out with a fellow lines member!

I have an Electrix Mo-FX. I use a Mackie 1202. I use the Mo-FX in the effects loop of the mixer. This works well, allowing me to mix distortion/flange/tremolo/delay into any channel.

While this works well it takes up a lot of space. I’d like to get this all onboard the modular and get a smaller mixer.

The Mo-FX allows you to set any channel to effect the hi, mid, lo, hi+mid, hi+lo, mid+lo, hi+mid+lo bands. There is a tap tempo. The modulated effects can all be synced. It’s also stereo.

(this isn’t mine i just grabbed the image from the inter webs)

I’m using strymon AA.1 and of course thier pedals – not sure if i already posted about this but i am also using an OWL pedal and a microgranny

in my case is a digital delay so 1 cv controllable fx and slopes in general are multifx imo so a couple of those plus a modcan b digital delay (still need to find that one). outside pedals for each dedicated channel. the little modular is one channel. mood source into tr8s another and the rhodes has its own channel.

Mostly prompted by this thread I recently rehabilitated my 4MS DLD (it had been “resting” a while on the candidates for sale shelf). Don’t have room for it in my small system but I got a second hand Doepfer beauty case to put it in so its now some kind of halfway house - out of the case but still cross-patchable and running at modular levels.

Early days but so far I’m quite pleased with the arrangement. Only thing to note is the power available in those cases is very limited - 200mA on the +12v rail - so with the DLD in there it leaves next to nothing for other utility modules so I put a couple of passive modules in there for now. A passive LP filter would be a nice companion so if anyone has a Bastl Propust they don’t want I’m right here…

Is anyone using a RIP to pass to outboard effects? I noticed it’s mentioned on the product page. If so, how much gain do you lose?

out of both modular systems (Euro and MU) I have some pedals that are not used so often and Axe-FX II. For reverbs and delays it is a top sound product. Would like to replace it for lives for something more compact. Maybe OTO BIM and BAM can help with it. I’m still waiting for a reverb module in euro but can’t find any that I like.

I have a pedal case the same size as my modular, side by side. I see it as part of the instrument with effects that just aren’t available as modules. I don’t use any kind of interface and have encountered no problems, although it would be nice to be able to control how hard the signal hits the first pedal as they are sensitive to such things and having such control would yield creative advantages. I suppose the primary need for an interface would be to boost levels when re-entering the modular environment? Any other concerns I’m missing?

Impedance mismatch can be an issue, especially with fuzz pedals. Also, some interfaces have nice to have features such as dry/wet controls, envelope followers and voltage regulation, for sending cv into pedal expression inputs, allowing you to get more out of your pedals…

as mentioned before, drive pedals can don’t like buffered signal in input. Like most of fuzz pedals.

to match impedance/level is not a big problem with proper module or pedal (like Keymaster). I don’t know how the tone suck is important in electronic music (because all sounds are artificial in comparison with guitar/bass/voice sounds) but I guess that some signal convertors can be better in providing clean signal level adaptation.

Well, the tone suck is more obvious on a synth due to the frequency range, but I suppose it can be used as an effect. On the other hand, fuzz is not really as useful on a synth, so it might not be an issue in that sense.

Perfectly fine approach.

He’s probably referring to the technique of widening a stereo signal by adding inverse phase signal to opposite channels i.e. adding a bit of inverse L to R and vice versa. This does cause phase correlation issue, but that’s more down to the actual algorithm and not necessarily the input being mono vs stereo.

I’m finally settling into a setup that integrates some guitar pedals into my modular rig. I have two Meris pedals (Polymoon and M7) in one fx send/return via my Praga, and two others (mtl asm 856 and thermae) running into an SBG. The Meris pedals are great for a send/return because they can take modular levels pretty well, have a kill dry and it’s cool being able to retain the Polymoon’s stereo signal. (Meris clip for anyone interested!)

Would running modular levels into pedals (non ‘synth’ pedals like Eventide) hurt or damage them? I know it hits them harder and this affects the sound but could it actually cause harm to the pedal?

I attenuate the signal before I let it pass through a pedal or an effect of some kind. Just use a mixer, VCA och attenuator of some kind and you’re good to go.

My configuration is based around semi modular synths so because I did not have a Eurorack case before I had my effects as outboard effects (mainly guitar effect pedals) but it was hard to transport, dynamically changing connections was a chore, there were cables everywhere etc. so I decided to build a strict Effects/Utilities 98HP Eurorack Case.
It currently has clouds, rampage and attenuator/inverter and I am planning to add delay, waveshaper and ring modulator.

Currently looking for a good pedal I/O solution too (especially since that’s mainly what I started building my modular for in the first place!)

Find it kind of weird how a lot of modules designed for this don’t have 1/4" jacks. I can understand that for space reasons but I prefer to avoid any kind of 1/8 to 1/4 adaptors/cables at all costs :frowning:

Seems like the Strymon AA.1 is what you’re looking for?

Yeah looks fairly ideal, thanks for the recommendation

ADDAC ADDAC200PI is another one I’ve seen which I might get

I just received a Cimmerian Caves V2 last week, and it’s got 3.5mm as well as 1/4" jacks. Very handy! It doesn’t handle Euro level though, it’s line level, so it still needs attenuation unless I want to overdrive it (which doesn’t sound bad).

Right now I’m using right-angle 3.5mm cables from Erthenvar and clunky adapters. I’m hoping that Tendrils, or somebody, starts making right-angle 3.5mm-to-1/4" cables as an option sometime.
