this is amazing and i can’t believe its open source.

@jack-kilgore The only major issue i was having was consistent crashes when recording using the recorder - usually after 5 or so seconds - like a buffer underrun thing. Looking at those recorded files they were hit and miss - sometimes only audio to the left channel or left and centre. - not stereo. I’m on 10.14.4 Mojave. I have a friend who was using 10.11 and it wouldn’t work at all but i know you said that it hadn’t been tested for 10.11

Update : my issue was soundcard configuration for the Apollo Duo. I needed to delete some virtual channels to get recording to work.

There’s instructions on the GitHub repo for how to build for Arch (Manjaro in my case) now, which I followed – making sure I had all the dependencies first – and it installed fine. I’ve spent some time this afternoon between tasks trying this out, particularly with the allophone samples linked to here:

and it’s already provided some extremely useful and potentially usable results.

Nice work!

Okay, this was a huge hack on my part, but nfd (native file dialog) is the library used to display all the dialog boxes when you click on load sound. I could not, for the life of me, get the nfd make file to compile natively on my computer running mojave, I had to resort to the alternative xcode compile option in order to get it to work. This is the only place where xcode is used. So, if you can some how build the nfd static library using nfd’s gmake system, you will not need xcode at all.

Just make sure the static library is placed in the correct location:
EmissionControl2/ecSource/external/nativefiledialog/build/lib/Release/x64/

So I would start there; I have opened up an issue in the nfd repo, so hopefully that can be attended to soon.

Hope this helps!

Yes, a more simple link would be this one:

As a sidenote, github’s UI for finding the actual releases is awful. I did not know the releases tab existed until we officially posted EC2. I must have missed out on so much software because I didn’t know how to find the binaries! HA

I don’t download binaries that often. I struggle to find the releases tab even while knowing it exists. :joy:

This is really cool! Just gave it a test run and it worked here on Windows with no drama. Love how single purpose the app is. Definitely will be making use of this!

thanks a lot, that clears things up!

I’ve been having a lot of fun using this, really nice software! One issue though, when I record my sessions using my rme ufx card, its recording all 30 available channels. there’s only audio on the first 2 channels, nothing but silence on the remaining 28 channels. Not sure how to get around that?

This is a known issue and has been fixed.

Hopefully, we can push it to the releases soon, I’m also adding a feature for choosing which outputs EC2 uses. Stay tuned !

Just tried it on Windows, fantastic software!
Anyone tried to compile it for a Raspberry pi 4 as they are 64bits? It doesn’t seems to work on my Pi 3B…
It has been months if not years since I am looking for a pi granulator in order to build a standalone synth on RPI.

Unfortunately, RPIs aren’t supported by the framework (Allolib) that EC2 is built on, so our hands are tied at the moment. I’ve been talking to the Allolib team about RPI support though, since I have some installations built in allolib that I’d like to put on RPIs myself anyway. They do want to support RPIs, but it might take some time because they’ll have to change a lot of how Allolib integrates with OpenGL.
I would say as soon as Allolib (fingers crossed that’s soon) supports RPI builds, we can get an RPI build of EC2 working very shortly afterwards!

Funny, I always assumes the shorthand was e=mc2…

I made a little movie with Emission Control, going thru, and also controlling the Serge synth.

Very curious about that pulsar software by the way!

Has anyone managed to get this working on Mac OS X 10.11? I haven’t so far, but I’m not sure if that’s my failings (very plausible) or that it isn’t possible right now.

Looks beautiful btw, great work people!

Hey there,
I’m trying to instal the most recent version for windows but when I try to run the app file i get an error message that says something like: VCRUNTIME140_1.dll was not found. I’m not sure if this is something I should have already in my windows software of if it’s something that should have came within the zip file I downloaded. If someone could help me figuring out what can I do to make it work I would very much apreciate it.
Thanks!

Hey there! Nevermind I figured out. I had to download some update for C++ in Windows. Thanks anyways!

Pleased to report that, having upgraded an old Mac to 10.12, I have this up and running and it is an absolute wonder of a program. I’ve used the (very simple) MIDI learn functionality to get my cheapo controller mapped, and I’m already amazed at what I can do with it working quickly and intuitively. Thank you to the team for creating this and making it freely available!

Glad everything has been slowly starting to sort itself out. Just to let everyone know, an update fixing a lot of crashes + improvements on presets + some other little things will be coming out sometime in January. Thanks for supporting the project everyone :,)

On a less technical note, here is an improv using EC2; a fairly simple use case but fun nonetheless.

I’m hoping to get a more informative demo out where I will explain some ways to use the software.
