Is it some kind of bit reduction thing causing this? Which could mean it’s not a feature by design, but not a bug either, just a result of how the module was thought out. (that’s actually a nice potentiel way to degrade a sample, although a bit long to get the result ^^)

Yes, the more I thought about it last night the more ideas I had to make use of it. I imagined putting a couple of loopers further down the chain and offloading versions of the loop in various states of decay to them and then being able to manipulate each of them separately…very interesting indeed!

It might be, but I’m not sure. It sounds more like a soft distortion than bitcrushing. But I’m no expert on these things.

And yes, ZOIA for me is all about the loopers. You can get super creative with them. I just never use it like a regular looper pedal. More of a live remix call-and-response device. Same mindset as I use the Cocoquantus but with very different reaults.

Do you share your patches somewhere? And have you found a lean sollution on how to stop looper modules to go into overdub instead of playback after recording the first dub?

And I must say, it is a truly magical device.

Im wondering if it pairs with the 16n and saves where each fader is assigned?

CC assignments are saved in the patch on the zoia so unless you change the CC #s of your 16n it will continue to work.

I did have great fun using the 16n as a sequencer !

I know one of the things that appeals about Zoia to some people is not using a computer. How is it for people who are totally comfortable with VST plugins, Bitwig Grid etc. as well as Eurorack?

I’m thinking about changing up my pedals, and am kind of intrigued by Zoia but wonder if it really offers me anything I can’t do better some other way.

It’s a totally different workflof… For me that makes me stumble on new ideas.
For me the attractiveness also lies in being able to make complex patches and save them for later use without a computer.
But to me it’s more a computer with a different interface then a pedal.

From Steve Bragg:

We’ve made a bunch of progress on a prototype sampler module that will load/save .wav files from/to SD card. The sampler is a huge can of worms. Any suggestions on what kind of interface or what kind of features you want would be great! We’ll probably start off with implementing something minimal, and then seeing where the pain points are. Here’s a little sneak preview of what we have so far.

Most efficient way to implement a wet/dry mix?

2 VCAs with inverted incoming CVS ?

Yes, that will surely do it, thanks. Zoia sure is good for your modular chops. Interesting how different patching is when the elements aren’t simultaneously visible.

How about stereo grain firing of the grains module?

Incredible resource, much gratitude to the contributors.

And there you have it.

Someone needs to update the thread title…

“Empress Zoia… modular in a stompbox in a modular?”

Need to empty some space for this. Or buy another rack.

And I thought not getting any modules for the year of 2020 was going to be easy…
