Thanks! They aren’t affixed at all. They’re just resting on bars that are sticking out perpendicular to the stand. Interestingly enough the Intellijel 4u cases do have grooves that are compatible with the MakerBeam standard, but these cases have been discontinued.

There are angled brackets with the 10x10mm Makerbeam standard, but I’m not sure I would trust them to hold up the weight of a loaded 6u case. They do provide specs if you have the knowledge to do the calculations of how much weight they can bear depending on the load, but unfortunately I don’t have that knowledge.

The way I have my stand set up the whole thing is slightly tilted back because of the front legs. If you had a similar set up you could tilt the whole thing back more with longer front legs. I’m not sure how it would work if you wanted a different tilt between the two cases.

There is almost no clearance between the handle on the top case and the top shelf of the desk so the top case is really stable for that reason. I couldn’t pull the top case forward even if I wanted to. I have to slide the whole stand forward in order to remove the top case.

If I didn’t have the shelf above the top case preventing the case from falling forward I would have built the stand to extend much further in the front at the base to prevent the stand and cases from tipping forward and secured the top case with a bungee cord or furniture strap on the handle attached to the back of the stand to prevent the case from tipping forward.

Jumping in this thread for the first time. What are everyone’s suggestions for a small case (need about 84HP total but preferably split across 6U or 4U) that’s going to be able to withstand the rigors of DIY / punk touring?

I use a 7U Intellijel case with one of my bands and that’s felt sturdy enough for local shows. That’s currently the only case that I own. The band is starting to talk about doing some touring this summer and I’d like to bring a much smaller case with only the modules essential for the project.

Everything I need would fit in the Intellijel palette case, but I am not sure it’s the most cost efficient solution, or if it’s even really that sturdy. I would definitely get the plastic lid, maybe not the carrying case.

these folks are in the US making smaller cases: https://www.blackholecases.com

I got a similar case from an italian maker clank modular, similarly priced as blackhole but for you shipping would make a big difference. I don’t have a lot of experience with different cases, but just a bit from shopping around for mine fairly recently. Cost efficiency can really be a spiral because smaller cases are always going to be more per hp so it really depends. You could get that sub_six for less then a palette but then you have to add power and that’s a whole different rabbit hole (can’t speak to the quality of their power either, so definitely look into that before taking this suggestion! casually have heard good things about their cases but I don’t know). Anyways, i love my 6U 70hp feels like a good size to keep me constrained but also feels like more space than I need for certain things which is nice, and the 50-70hp is a dream to lug around compared to like 84-120hp I imagine.

I picked up an Erica Synths 104hp Case Stand for my 6u/104hp setup and it’s everything I wanted out of a stand, can rotate it so the case is flatter or taller, very sturdy and arrived to Colorado from Latvia in around a week. Highly recommended.

Curious who makes 4u (pulp logic) cases in the US? I have some left over eurorack modules from my last system and would like to put together another small system. Something like a 4u/60. And before you suggest diy, i dont have the tools to do the woodworking and my ocd would probably just get in the way. :confounded:

very nice! what’s the depth of the base?

Thanks! It’s about 30cm or 12 inches deep

Just thought I’d mention this stand I recently purchased for my 6U 60HP case. Nice angle and its very sturdy. There are a few different brands, I imagine they’re all basically the same:

Pulp Logic sells a 54hp 3U with 1U rows on the top and bottom:

Does anyone have any suggestions for a two-tier stand? I have two 6U Doepfer low-cost cases and want to try mounting one above the other, to save table space. I currently have each side by side on guitar / amp stands. I was planning on making my own two tier stand to stack them, but the workspace I go to is closed for the time being due to COVID.

Thanks. I should have mentioned that i meant besides the pulp logic cases.

Anyone with the Make Noise CV bus case - does the input have enough gain to plug an electric guitar straight in and get a useable result? I’m guessing it’s designed for line level really.

The Pre-Amp circuit on the CV Bus module should be enough to boost your guitar from line level to modular level.

Hi everyone,

I recently picked up a new 6u 84hp case from Perfect Circuit, an Emitum sán-sán. So far, the power has been quite clean and I’ve had no noise from my digital modules. This post is about the four 1/4 jacks on the back of the case. So far, Emitum has only announced a quad VCA that outputs four separate audio signals. I typically mixdown to stereo in my rack and then use Meng Qi’s PE2 as as my output module, so that isn’t particularly useful.

I’m hoping I can crowdsource some ideas for the four 1/4" jacks on the back. Seems to me there’s a lot of potential there. If you were to design a module that incorporated those jacks, what would it look like/do?

Photos for reference and a copy of the schematic.

Edit: What existing modules would work for it, if any?

Some sort of external effects processing maybe? Stereo send + return with attenuation for left/right in and out?

I had this thought as well, would be great to pair with stereo effects in norns…

Yeah definitely! Then maybe you could get some interesting modulation going on the wet/dry mix or pan or… yeah, I dunno! That’s probably what I would do with it. If it could compensate for the gain differences too, that’d be useful. I don’t think Norns (or many standalone effects) likes modular signal levels.

Looks like you would need to rewire them to take TRS but you could use them as expression and foot switch inputs!

I was going to suggest a sustain / switch pedal as well, I think those should work with just the TS connections.

You’re right, I just checked my foot switch and it is TS
