That makes sense. Hopefully by the time I can afford another module Make Noise would have released a stereo Reverb

fwiw i use my digitakt with my rack daily. Once you get used to the elektron workflow, it can be very hands on, especially with the new randomize page feature. Its still menu driven but it can definitely play like an instrument and can be quite fun.

I agree, I use my Digitakt (and Digitone) with my modular all the time, also live. I use the Expert Sleepers FH-2 to sequence the modular from the sequencer of the Elektrons.

The Emiverb mode on uburst / uclouds parasites firmware might be a good option. 8hp and half the price!

Hello… my first post here and its kind of a noobish question… maybe its been answered already, but I’m not gonna scan thru 2000 posts in this thread, so here goes.

I understand that the eurorack format is powered by +12v/-12v and ground, right?

lets say that I’m building a circuit that is fed positive charge and ground, and I want to have it eurorack compatible, could I wire it up to my IDC socket and simply omit the negative pin?

Hope my question is understandable…

My best friend got an A4 recently and he also said the same thing, plus it made him much more productive.

Did you start off with the modular or the elektron boxes? I just want to be inspired that’s all, and for me inspiration seems to mainly result from discovering a new way of mangling sound

I had older Elektron boxes before going modular but in my case I don’t think it’s about what I was used to first. It’s simply a workflow thing. The sequencer and their more limited sound shaping accompany my open ended modular explorations nicely. Just like you stated, I get inspired by the openness of modular too.

Welcome @NOISEBOB

Yes, Eurorack modules are powered by +- 12V. If your circuit does not require -12V just leave the pins unconnected.

If you don’t know it already, check doepfer’s DIY/TECH section for the pinout.

Could anyone kindly tell me whether most oscillators expect unipolar or bipolar signals in their v8 inputs? I’ve experimented a bit and anecdotally the bipolar approach seems more predictable but it’s also less practical. (when using a midi to cv converter, if i have all the outputs set to 10v unipolar I can do a wider amount of things)

I’d say most analog and some digital accept bipolar. Most sequencers and CV keyboards are unipolar, but it seems MIDI-CV converters are sometimes bipolar.

As for MIDI-mappings I think the range -3V to +7V is used for ten octaves is the “standard”.

Additionally, Doepfer, who established the specification, has a lot of documenation on their website on the standards:

http://www.doepfer.de/manual_e.htm

You want the A-100 documents. The Technical Details has information on the power specification.

The pitch standard was originally 0-5V, which moog and then doepfer used, but commonly a few volts are added at both ends to cover 10 octaves. I’ve seen -3 to 7 and -2 to 8.

Yeah, definitely take it with a grain of salt. The specification was not followed rigidly!

I’m sure most people are aware but it’s always worth pointing out that certain digital modules, especially Noise Engineering’s most popular ones are unipolar on the v/o input.

Thanks a bunch… that doefper link is bookmarked.

I’ve found myself longing for a compressor/limiter in the rack to control dynamics, glue the mix together, and to play around with side chain. Two compact options have caught my eye in particular: the WMD MSCL and the SSF Autodyne.
I’ve seen both pop up in people’s setups here but would like to hear some opinions on them. Mono/stereo is a clear difference of course but what else? Do you have either? Both? Do you like yours?

And then I remember my Disting has a compressor.

Pam’s Question:

Can I offset a division of a gate output to to the last division in some way?

For example, if by default my /4 clock is 1000, and I want it to be 0001 (where 1 is the gate on within the divisions and 0 is the gate off).

I feel like I can, but I can’t seen to land on the settings? Thanks in advance.

I think what you’re looking for is probably the “phase” parameter? like “width” at 25% and “phase” at 75%?
