Blades works extremely well for turning mono to mid/side, even considering the different routing modes. Dual filter on side, single filter on mid for instance.

I think the main point of Emilie’s statement on stereo was that, while you can give it L and R inputs and get L and R outputs, that is really one of the least interesting things it’s capable of. The real character and versatility come out when you think “dual” rather than “stereo.”

Mid/side does not necessarily need stereo-capable processors though, so of course a dual filter that “isn’t stereo” also works well for mid/side.

Belgrad is only mono out. I’m using a Bionic Lester 3 for stereo duties. It has a few really neat tricks up its sleeve, but it’s also a weird fucker - so not for everyone, I suppose. It’s got that gnarly Harvestman bite to it. I’m really interested in the XAOC Katowice, looks very useful as a stereo filter/EQ.

This is exactly what I’m trying to say but it’s
getting bogged down in semantics.

Blades is designed to contain an extraordinary amount of patching possibilities, on a spectrum from stereo to mono-to-stereo to dual voices interacting in complex ways to dual completely independent voices to being a single near-complete voice on its own. Emilie’s disclaimer is more to prevent one possible use case from overshadowing the rest.

Ripples, though incredible, is just a really
good single filter that is stereo only in the limited sense that any modules with two audio outs can be stereo if you patch it as such.

all of my Mutable modules play extraordinarily nicely together, which is why they dominate my expansion plans and why I suggested them to @hermbot, who was originally looking for a complementary pair of modules from the same mfr.

I’m gassing hard for this stereo crossover because I want to finish building my 6x4 stereo matrix mixer and feed three stereo effects chains through it… 6 inputs = 3 katowice bands + feedback from 3 effects. 4 outputs = 3 effects + 1 mix/dry out.

Anyone in here have try this one/both of these modules? I plan to bridge VCV Rack / midi software / DAW (as generative sequencer, convert midi to cv/gate) to trigger sounds on external hardware eurorack module / example : Plaits.

(Image info - left : 2hp midi, right : Mutable Instruments CVpal)

My go-to for MIDI to CV, though not back, is the Winterbloom Sol. Its default config will give you essentially 2x one of these modules, but because it’s so configurable, it can drive things like Plaits as a drum voice (converting MIDI drum sequences to MODEL input voltages) and other odd or non-V/Oct use cases, as well as letting you control LFOs, envelopes, or even randomness with MIDI CCs. Check out some of my use cases for it in this thread.

Does anyone know anything about this module?

It looks like a nice solution to my need for more end of chain mixing, 4hp and relatively inexpensive…

I’ve picked and racked up a Praga + Hrad. Without the expander connected, the Aux send and/or return levels appear to be 0. When I have Hrad connected, the Aux loop works as expected. I’m sure I’m missing something obvious… surely the Aux loop works without the expander, right? Thank you!

Perhaps you removed jumpers from Praga to test Hrad, then unplugged Hrad but did not reinstall the jumpers?

ACL makes a similar stereo summer. On theirs, each row has three gain settings determined by dip switches (on the back)

good line of thinking, but the no output issue was happening before hrad connection, and again after disconnection. the praga itself has no jumpers, and the jumpers on the hrad are set as defined by the manual.

edit: i might be wrong. after digging in mw posts, this seems like a case of missing (undocumented) jumpers.

I have both of these exact modules. Use them a lot. CVPal is great and a good DIY project!

[edit: sorry I just saw your edit ] Did you get this Praga second-hand? I think there are jumpers.

Does anyone have an Alyseum Q-MIX? And an Intellijel case? I was wondering if it’d be possible to hook up the outputs of the Q-MIX directly to the 1/4" jacks on the case, forgoing an intermediary module like Stereo Line Out 1U. I know that the case uses 6-pin connectors like so:

so it’d be a matter of getting the Q-MIX outputs in 6-pin format, yes?

Figured I’d post this here, coming from a discussion in the “Show us your modular system” thread: Endorphin.es Milky Way modes chart.

: This actually inspired me to finish another one of these that I’d left lying about half finished, so thanks @disquiet for that kick in the pants!

Ok friends, having sold my Performance case, I need to replace some functionality that I had in 1U format.

  1. Zeroscope- probs just replace with the 3U version, right?

  2. Quadratt- is Tripplatt the best call? Or is there a better mixer/attenuverter/offset I should think about? Want to keep the footprint small. Have a Maths, just usually need a couple more instances.

How basic of a quadratt replacement are you after? While I find ALM’s O/A/x2 to be one of the more useful since it’s a straightforward knob/function module with visual feedback, I recently picked up ADDAC216 which has a far less vanilla mixing section than most.

Will check that out, thanks!

I had both the 1U Zeroscope and the (3U) Dave Jones O’Tool+ and kept the latter. Much more versatile, imho.

Frap Tools’ 321 is another option to replace Quadratt. Some clever normalization paths for lots of utility but trim pots make it a touch fiddley.

I’ve never tried the Intellijel ones, but I do like Mutable Instruemnts Shades.
