I would but that was all it said

  1. open maiden

  1. go to SC tab and enter ;restart (do not forget the semicolon)

  1. copy entire output

“library not compiled successfully” is the error message when sclang tries to evaluate something but there is an error in the classes.

it is verylikely there is a duplicate engine, but this could also mean a missing file from someone’s project or many ther things. so we need to see the full error message from sclang’s class compilation step, which is shown immediately after ;restart. (but will probably not be shown on initial connection of maiden, since sclang’s startup process has already ended in failure.)

I was just sending a screen shot

you are missing the intiial semicolon in ;restart.

therefore maiden is not recognizing the command and is passing the string “restart” as code input to sclang, which is in a failure state.

and thats much “better”

take it up with the author of grd. other user reports same error:

in the meantime, try uninstalling that script to continue using norns.

My Fates has been shelved for months, and now upon booting it the screen won’t come on at all. I never had this problem before. There are no evident hardware issues. I have to suspect a dead pi or dead screen but I’m curious if others have seen this issue.

I think the last app I had open was Cheat Codes but I see nothing on my Grid. The red and green lights are on the pi.

Edit: it was a bad SD card

If both are on, then that’s some kinda problem with the pi or sd card

Green should flash during SD card activity or in a pattern to indicate a boot problem.

Note: A faintly glowing steady green LED means no boot code has ever been executed,

make sure the sd card is properly seated?

Just to confirm this appears to have completely fixed the issue, thank you very much

I got the dreaded SuperCollider Fail on boot up of Norns. Not sure what happened. Now nothing will boot in Norns. Orac and Organelle work just fine. I’m backing up the Fates Dust folder now.

I, like 2 others above, had to delete GRD as it was throwing the SC fail for me too after updating apps tonight. If you have GRD installed, you may want to delete it for now. After I removed it, all was well again.

follow the steps shown above if you want help diagnosing, it is usually simple

Deleted GRD and that didn’t solve the problem. :frowning:

Follow all the steps: select SC tab before ;restart

my mistake. i uploaded a fix. sorry!

It was a bad SD card! Couldn’t even successfully re-flash it. How strange.

Thanks again fam! It’s working again after I did the ;restart. So glad I don’t have to reinstall everything and reload all my samples!

I lasered a new case for my Fates using LED diffusion acrylic – my 3D printed PLA case warped from Pi4 heat so it was time for a change. Now waiting on four matching encoder knobs from Modular Addict.

Love that acrylic color! Where did you get that lasered?
