Mine took 9 days to France, I just picked it up

Anyone have another source for switch caps? Mouser is out of stock…
Also did you use clicky switches or quiet ones? (I’m wondering if the clicky aren’t too noisy a la organelle).

8 days UK :)…

I got the silent ones, will update you as soon as Ive tested them. I got the rounded caps from Mouser, they were in stock just a couple of days ago(listed as ALTs in the BOM). Digikey has the “regular” ones in stock.

I used the silent ones and Im happy with them…

it’s a trade-off, click-y = nice positive/physical feedback, but noisy.
however, I think silent is fine - as you expect some kind of UI feedback anyway.

only time i ever notice them is for some Norns patches that I’m unfamiliar with, and Im trying to press a button harder as its not doing what I’m expecting … so I guess, i think its not ‘registering’

so personal preference, but if I was building again, Id go for same silent ones.

(it be nice if there was something a bit more ‘in between’, ie. silent but with some soft click action)

Thank you @noiserock and @TheTechnobear for your replies, I ordered silent ones too (and rounded caps caps from mouser, I missed that ref in the BOM). Hopefully I’ll build mine next weekend!

This is great, thanks for all your work. Do you have an idea about the price of prepopulated vs kits? Itching to get my mouser order together

well, well, well… a sneak peek of what I’m working on… (inspired on OP-1)
Opinions?

really cute, I love it

one thought… do you reckon, it’s possible (or desirable) to put a glass panel over the display, it be nice if the display felt ‘flush’ to the main surface.

love the op1 design!
ive been holding on to some small bits of thin polycarb. i guess ive been saving it for my case!
but id also be interested in a case and screen cover solution.
thanks all! great thread!

The look is crazy fun. If I had one suggestion, it wood be to bring the size of the case down a little, so that you have a bit more access to the buttons. Then bring flush with the car seems like it could cause issues

How will the case open/close? That’s one thing I found difficult when designing my case… i.e., being able to get the boards in the case with the jacks coming through holes as the back was kind of hard…

Which software did you use to design? Would you mind to share the file? (Beside the stl file which isn’t really tweakable right?)

If you’re asking about my design (not @Oxbown’s), then it is here: https://github.com/coreyker/fates3d_case
There is a fusion 360 source file in addition to the STLs, so it should be tweakable.

Uuuups didn’t see the fusion file :man_facepalming:t2:
Thank you!!!

i’m making my case based on your design which looks great btw. any tips when installing the pcb/rpi?

Very nice… not only is it playful but it also looks really professional.

Btw: I noticed your in Spain ( like me  ) , where do you get things like enclosures made?

How would one DIY such a thing (the flush screen protector part)? Curious about this myself.
