Cut a piece of polycarbonate, carefully trim it so it fits precisely into the opening in a case. Then fix it with superglue, or better with transparent UV-curable glue. That’s the idea, I’m going to try it on my Ornament&Crime.

That looks really great @Oxbown! Any plans to release the .stl files (or equivalent) for that design?

absolutely stunning! Only this that worries me is the lack of airflow…
would love to see a OP-Z-inpired version(although, the encoders on that would not be a realistic thing to make)

cut something like this i guess. if the fit is tight, maybe no adhesive required?

I might try to laser cut one to be press-fitted on my fates case, I made some research about glueing but it seems a bit delicate.

I’m thinking about cutting a top case from this without the window, could be interesting - https://www.canalplastic.com/collections/acrylic-sheets/products/see-thru-mirror-acrylic-sheet?variant=32913711566

If I decide NOT to mout the USB-C port, can I also skip the ADP150 and R20-21 or are they required?

Yeah, it could be possible, I´ll include it in the design.

The case has a vent on the bottom :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Of course, I´ll publish the design when I finish the case.

I prefer not to share the files until I finish the design. The case must be perfect, I´ll make tests printing the case to validate the mount/dismount, hardness, feeling, fabrication limitations, etc…

I was reading on pi4 heating issues today to choose between buying a 3B+ or 4 for my fates and it seems that this can be reversed back to previous behavior, thus shutting off the screen (see section about Halt behavior in the release notes of the updated bootloader).

Disassembly of the worlds sketchiest norns system has begun in anticipation of Fates’ arrival.

  1. What script is that?
  2. I dig those buttons
  3. Soldering iron twinsies

I must admit, I upped my soldering iron recently in preparation of doing more SMD work to build out a Euro Rack.

The script was the FM7 engine. I haven’t used it in a while though! Not sure what it’s status as a usable script is in Norns 2.0

ADP150 is required. The two resistors can be skipped in this situation

Thanks.
I have built mine. Didn’t use the USB-C connector, powering the RPI4 directly.
Voltages: I get the 5v and 3.3 from the Vreg correctly (it looks like it’s working), but I only measure 0.05V when the RPI is coonnected on the test point below the screen… (???)
RPI light is always red…but If i disconnect it the lighst are red/grren, so it’s not dead at least…

SOLVED: I had a very small short on pins 27-28 of the 8731

It works. My roommate just updated tonight and we messed with it. If I didn’t have a day job I’d work on it more :frowning:

Quite happy with it
