It was available in my dreams and a friend helped me catch it. It’s a test case let’s say…

I too have some wonderful Aluminum cases. They all look very fun together.

built a Pi4b fates, great project thanks.

should the audio sound a little downsampled?

Whether playing Awake or external audio through it, it has a slight digital/bit reduced sound to it.

Built from a full fates kit, only was missing one capacitor in the C13 spot so I used one I had in the drawer (a 50v tolerance one). Perhaps that’s the culprit?

thanks

huh… If you came up 1 electrolytic capacitor short, I’d double check all of those 1u and 10u cap positions for the correct values. There’s three 10u and four 1u caps. It’s possible I got the count wrong on a kit, but I do try to triple check that. Apologies if one was missing.

50v is fine (way overkill, but fine) as long as that C13 is 1u.

(note - C13 is in the Right audio Output path)

Awake has some crazy softcut/FX stuff happening so it might not be a very good test for external audio.

Something like we/test/draw.lua might be good to test audio passthru since it’s not running any kind of engine.

I scooped one of those orange powder coated cases too and wanna post a beauty shot. I gotta find a long screw for the lower left corner.

Were you able to get this figured out? I’m running into the same issue of nothing showing on the display when I boot the raspberry PI. I double checked that I’m using the correct image, and even tried flashing a second microSD card to make sure there was nothing wrong with the card itself.

Most likely soldering related.

Can you post pictures of the display headers soldering?

Thanks for the quick response - that was it! I was a bit stingy with the solder on one of the pins. Everything is up & running now

Now that i have all the parts ready to be soldered on, made the cabeling and the space in the studio for the fates, the pcb and case is laying around in customs in Frankfurt since 4 days without any processing… Can’t wait to build it

Also…what material is this printed with?

This is SLS Nylon in black (PA12). SLS does have a slightly grainy texture, which I quite like and it’s a durable and accurate material. I’m still in two minds about sanding it a touch and spraying it, but I might run it naked for while and see how it holds up.

For the record, I did need to use some small screws to fix the Pi and Dac to bottom half of the case - it’s easy enough and tiny washers can help as well. The top cover fits nice, but depending on the accuracy of your print you might need to add a sliver of tape inside the edge joins to ensure a snug fit.

That looks super nice! Do you have an SLS printer? If you ordered it from somewhere would you mind letting me know where (and how much it cost?)

Thanks man. I don’t have a printer unfortunately, SLS printers are still very pricey. I’m in London and got mine made at 3dpeople.uk but I think if you shop around in your area I’m sure you’ll have different prices.

Ok, so I had norns.local bookmarked/set to my homepage. I did not realize that my bookmark was actually for an extended web address (http://norns.local/maiden/#edit/dust/audio/tape/0001.wav)

After update, I couldn’t get maiden to load right until I figured this out. If you’re having problems post update with maiden, make sure to re-enter norns.local in your browser’s address bar (not just refresh the page over like I did)

Finally got my display and the parts I mid ordered today. Finished up soldering and got it firing, no sweat. Can’t wait to start to learn about how to use it now, haha.
