I’m digging my lunchbox (from Target) Norns + Gameboy combo. I might look weird commuting on the train, but at least no one bothers me

I’m surprised that playing with this on the train hasn’t gotten calls to the cops. Hahah

I was pretty nervous bringing my Fates through TSA but they didn’t seem to bat an eye

I found a small plastic shelled, zipper case that seems to fit Fates well.

Keep in mind that while the top and bottom are hard, the zipper is not.
(Sometimes my encoders will be smushed to the case after being in my backpack.)

The exact one I bought ($8) is no longer available on Amazon, but it appears there are others that are almost identical.

It fits Fates, but little else. The only thing I put in is a 4x6" cheat sheet for Orca.

Dig it!

Add a Little chunk of foam on top to keep the encoders from getting squashed?

Good idea!
I’m sure Mouser, Digikey and Arrow have sent more than enough that I can put to a better use.

What pots are people using for the tactile knobs? Only part I don’t have

The BOM lists 2 alternate parts for the encoder - does that not help?

There’s a handful of versions for the PEC11R. Mostly due to shaft variations. Just wanna be sure you get 24PPR and not one with switch.

It does yes , I have a bit of option paralysis. Thanks for clarifying either works.

Hi!

How can I see which USB port is being used for MIDI out, please?

I believe you’d need to define the MIDI out device in the Devices area of System, and then check in the application itself what device (1-4) you have selected.

Ah yes, I’d forgotten the System menu! As it happens I have a MIDI monitor which can behave as a device, and after changing the device # in the app I started seeing messages on the monitor.

Thank you!

Hi!
Im going to setup a temporary music station in my kitchen, so i can spend time with the kids and family while messing up with fates

Any ideas of a similar setup like cyberduck for browsing adding files to fates?

Any ipad apps for ssh into fates via wifi?

Thanks a bunch!

Simple build (thru hole) for someone who has pretty limited soldering experience. Thanks @okyeron
Obligatory Fates on a plane

Thanks again! I went for the floral print. It is perfect! I tucked a small rectangle of foam into the pocket on the top side to protect the encoders.

is there a terminal cmd i can use to end scripts? im sure it’s already here somewhere but i’m having no luck with my keywords in the search function. my launchpad gets stuck on certain scripts (kria at the moment) and freezes both the fates and the launchpad. Usually i can figure out some roundabout way through sidekick and manual rebooting but everytime I switch back to the norns side or reboot, the kria script is still running/sticking. sudo reboot/sudo shutdown now aren’t working either

*Thank you @okyeron

So a couple choices…

  1. You can do a ;restart command in the Maiden REPL

  2. Hold down K1 and then press K3 to clear the current script - EDIT - you might need to have the SELECT menu on screen at the time for this to work.

@dan_derks - I could not find #2 here in the docs, does that need to be added?

Would you rather choose a 3b+ or a 4?
