A-101-2 is pretty cool. The resonance goes surprisingly wild! And it can apply in LPG mode too.

I decided though I have too many LPGs for my needs – Natural Gate is my favorite by far, but I also like the Pittsburgh Lifeforms DIF for a very different sort of tone.

Verbos Bark Filter

And a really gnarly outlier — the filter on my Future Soundsystems TG1 Gristlizer.

It makes everything sound crunchy and psychotic.

been loving the twinpeak ever since I got it a few months ago.

Does anyone have opinions on Intellijel Polaris?

I had one of those some time ago and it do absolutely sounds great. Buttery an liquid and all that. But I think i liked the other filters I had after that one a bit more though to get those buttery sounds, R*S VCFQ and Qu-bit Tone. I miss all three of them…
The great thing about Polaris is the phaser. That’s a great addition I would’ve used more today than I did back then.
Nowadays I’ve only got one filter in my setup and that’s enough for me (the crazy “little” beast Eowave Fluctuations Magnétiques), but I would love to have something different, something like a … drumroll … Three Sisters maybe.

I have fallen in love with the Rossum Evolution. Apart from the morphable slope, the distortion circuit sounds fantastic and can provide some fragile smoky touch when combined with the q-compensation.

If MU/5U modules count,

  1. Megaohm MA-20 filter - very good copy of Korg MS-20. Can be used with synths and especially with drum tracks. Good and useful resonance. Highly recommended for MU users
  2. Mos-Lab Fixed Filter Bank - helpful with analog(or not) drum sculpting. You can record hats/kicks/toms/snares as you like without digital plugins.

The chain of Analog drum machine->FFB->MA-20 filter>Overdriven mixer/Drive module works for me

Klangbau Koln Twin Peaks Resonator. Only euro filter I own (besides a fixed filter bank). Highly recommended.

Hmmm. :heart_eyes:Fixed Filterbanks. Love the Doepfer A-128, Random Source Res EQ is great as well.

Yeah, ADDAC601 over here.

Speaking of fixed filters, anybody have experiences with the Make Noise FxDf?

I’ve been patiently waiting for Thonk to restock the Serge Resonant EQ kits. The feedback and comb outputs seem like they’d be really interesting to experiment with.

I’ve had in the rack for a while - still a bit undecided on it…it’s useful at times when I want a sound to just be low end or just be high end and don’t want to dedicate that goal to one of my actual filter modules.

Thinking it might be interesting with the Nearness module when I can get one of those. I’m imagining spreading the frequencies out across the stereo field.

I’m planning to do the RxMx + FxdF combo at some point, using them together or separate as needed.

I’ve really fallen in love with the YuSynth Steiner-Parker filter. I got it because I love how drums sound through the Microbrute’s filter and this is from the same designer and quite close to that one. I ended up liking the sound of it much more than the MB, actually, and the separate inputs for each filter band are so fun. It’s got a lovely character that reminds me of film soundtracks from the 30’s and 40’s, it just sort of colors things in that way. It can also drive a signal HARD, with enough gain to boost line level signals up to euro-world. Patching feedback into the different input bands can be pretty great, too. I might add a second to my rack at some point for stereo duties.

I have an extra nearness panel/pcb I’d send you for the cost of shipping  let me know

If @Jonny doesn’t take you up on that, I would!

Microbrute fan that I am, I bet I’d love that. Putting it on my “when i get a bigger case someday” list :+1:

It’s been a while since I played with running things through the MB filter. I should give it another spin…

As there’s been some Random*Source talk, I’m curious about people’s experience with Variable Q vs. Variable Slope euro…it seems like Q often gets the love, but not sure why. In any case, I’m wondering what the functional and sound differences are!

I’m digging up a dead horse here, but do you got the mk1 or 2? I’m finding great deals on some used mk1’s but I’m a little bummed out on the low amplitude deal. How low/loud is it?
