Donāt want to stray too far off topic but hereās a list Ed. There have been others added since!
For the sake of keeping topics a bit cleaner, just to remind you all that thereās a dedicated thread for this called Your iOS arsenal
Itās logical that thereās some overlap (theyāre definitely plugins and definitely some of them are worth buying) but since iPads are very specific dedicated platforms and closed ecosystems I think itās better suited that they have their own space for discussion.
Thanks for the reminder, I know that thread well! Sometimes topic drift evolves organically out of the conversationā¦
Absolutely love my Sensel w/ Buchla overlay. Works great with computer and modular. Happy to answer any questions.
I just wish Ableton would support MPE then it would be perfect
Donāt fear the Bitwig!
I donāt fear the Bitwig, I just have a &^ ton of money invested in Ableton infrastructure (M4L, suite, Push 2, etc). Doesnāt really make financial sense to bail. I use Logic X when I want to get my MPE on.
I never used the tilt filter too much, but the added LP / HP are really great to have. The gentler slope LP is great for cleaning things up a bit.
Itās a good point - thanks for the reminder
One of the reasons I got a Microfreak was because I thought I could also use it as an MPE controller but I didnāt have any desktop hosts that supported it. I had no idea Bitwig did. Does that mean that it allows you to map the controls of any VSTs to it or do you need specific VSTs? Is it possible to record MPE performances within Bitwig and export the MIDI data (with the MPE) to, for example, Ableton?
I have to admit that I didnāt really look at many. Years ago I tried one by Bayerdynamic, which I think was IR based. And sounded completely unusable to me. My main interest in Can Opener is the spectral stereo field display. The rest is a nice to have additon to that. Of course the value of Toneboosterās BusToolsā (which includes Isone) is much better than Can Openerās. You get a whole bunch of mixing/mastering tools for the same price, but I am already pretty well covered for most of what they have in the bundle.
Plasmonic is getting closer, really looking forward to it:
I still use Audacity for some things and today I found a free De-esser and Declicker plugin for it.
https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=79278
Download is on page one of the forum. I tested the declicker and it works well.
A youtube video about it.
In case anyone is interestedā¦
Even on sale itās ridiculously expensive. I like it, but cannot justify it.
Isotope RX Elements is on sale for $29. Worth it for de-click alone in my opinion!
If you were trying to get pretty close to the sound of the Analogue Systems RS-448 BBD, which VST would you reach for? (Or, ok, whatās your favorite vst bbd?)
Aaaaaaand another q, what is your favorite spring reverb vst?
Love the BBD modes on Valhalla Delay, they took years modelling them on hardware devices including the Boss DM-2 and DM-2W. I had three Blacet Time Machines at one stageā¦
Never heard a realistic spring reverb plugin.
IMHO, u-he Twangstrom does come very close. I had a Koma Field Kit FX (I donāt remember which spring tanks I had), and was able to imitate the sound well enough that I couldnāt tell the difference when A/B testing.
The d16 repeater has a variety of delay models, including a couple of BBDs:
I tend to use the more esoteric models, but Iād say the BBDs sound quite good
Cableguys Shaperbox is an unsung heroā¦
I use it on every single track, for rhythm or the lazy manās side-chain
Kontakt friends - Has anyone tried or outright bought Arkhis from NI? I hadnāt heard of it until this weekās Komplete 13 release and it honestly caught me by surprise.
The last Kontakt lib I bought was Exhale maybe 9 months ago, and I was going to rely on Labs for any orchestral flair in my music, which is decidedly not cinematic (right now). Iām wondering if anyone here whoās doing more pop/indie/ or ābeatā-based music has put it into their workflow?
