I agree Valhalla sounds great, but I’ve found myself using Soundtoys Lil Plate more than Valhalla Plate - for simplicity reasons. Few controls and it just sounds great from the start. I’m not saying Soundtoys’ sounds better, it just so easy to get a great sound that I don’t bother to compare.

Lately I’ve been very tempted to buy the Slate and Ash “Cycles”: https://slateandash.com/products/cycles

Does anyone have any experience with it? Is it as great as I’m imagining it in my head?

I grabbed Arturia’s Pigments over the holidays when it was on sale and I’m really glad I did. It’s a versatile workhorse, and if it was the only plugin I was allowed to use from now on I wouldn’t complain.

There’s a lot to like in the factory library, imo. And I agree with @hermbot – Junatik, and Travelizer are two of my favorites.

The user library of free instruments built by users is super cool. One of my favorite builders is Dieter Zobel. He refers to his instruments as “toys”— some are more musical than others, but they’re all interesting and fun to play with.

I posted here over 2 1/2 years ago and my selection of plugins is the same right now as it was back then. The only things I’ve added that I think are really worth mentioning in this thread are Spitfire Audio libraries. More specifically the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the LCO Strings, which are both well worth the (quite large amount of) money in my opinion.

I have it as well and love it, although it took me a couple sessions to get used to the Kontakt interface.

The only word of caution I’d provide is that it is very CPU intensive. I’m not sure if they provide target specs on their website, but probably good to try to make sure your system can handle it.

Same. It was the first time I strayed from their V Collection and I’m really impressed. It has a lot of depth and the visualizations are incredibly useful.

With that said, I love Artuira’s V Collection, which now includes a Mellotron, CV, Synthi, and a B-3 since @jasonw22 last posted it in this thread. I can’t afford a Buchla Easel but I can experiment with one using my MIDI controllers? Yes, please.

after a long while of hemming and some hawwing, i cant recall actually hawwing but anyway i bought sylenth and it’s kind of nice especially driven by some ACDGEN or Tie Sequencer

I have been endlessly intrigued by this package and love what I hear with your examples. I sadly just can’t justiy the purchase for a Kontakt library like this right now when I am surface level on so much gear, but one day, hopefully if they have a sale, I will get on this because the sounds generated are 100% my jam.

I’m going to level with you: I have no idea. But there’s only one way to find out!

You could easily map the samples to any sampler, though. There’s only 8 or 9.
