Congrats on the update. Can you tell me in a bit more detail what 5xRR means?

A bit of proof reading: the text on your site says: “Nils Frahm’s seminar ‘Felt’ album”, I’m guessing that should read seminal album.

Thanks, fixed that now :slight_smile: 5xRR means that there are 5 sample variations per note. So basically, every time you hit a note it sounds a little different. The result is a more organic and less repetitive sound.

Is this designed specifically with the roli in mind? - Edit: Just bought it and I am really impressed, particularly with some of the more “ambient” modes. Excited to put this through my modular…

One thing I have noticed is that I get a lot of cracking/popping with the tremolo articulation. I have gone through most of the help in the manual (buffer size, closing browser). Im only working experimenting with lekko, so no other tracks to freeze, and my machine is a 2017 MacBook Pro 15" with 3.1ghz dual core i7 and 16gb ram, so Im guessing that isn’t the issue either. Any ideas?

We’re already working to fix it. Regarding the Roli - it plays great using a polyphonic MIDI expression but Roli is not required to run the library. It’s a nice option but the library works great using the standard mod-wheel (CC1) control.

By the way - Expressive E Touche support will come with the next update later this year.

I haven’t bought a software instrument in a very long time. But this might change things. It sounds absolutely lovely and I dig the design as well. Really cool to see such a heartfelt library being made.

I’m repeating myself but I so love the UI design. Would you have any advice or resources for someone interested in learning more about user interface and interaction design?

I think there’s one more typo on the Lekko page: acoustic for “The acustic piano is only half of the story, though.”

Just bought this and I can’t wait to use it.

Working on a piece at the moment using Spitfire’s free Soft Piano, and this should be a very nice ‘character’ replacement.

I look forward to seeing what you have in the works for the future!

Ah, thank you, you have great eyes!

As for the design - I’m actually self-taught so I’m afraid I don’t have any resources I can recommend. I’m inspired by a lot of stuff, visually, but when it comes to actually designing this stuff I’m always thinking about what I’d enjoy myself.

The Spitfire piano is great! I’m curious to hear how you find them compared to each other! :slight_smile:

really loving this update! and the coming touche support is very exciting :partying_face:

@tslesicki

Adding to the love already expressed, Lekko is really gorgeous, and infused with a deeply personal feel that makes it a great pleasure to engage with…

I’m thrilled to hear that you’re going to be bringing out additional instruments!

And it’s wonderful that it’s now available as a plug-in, which I find to be a preferable experience to working in Kontakt…

Thanks for sharing your work with us!

Oh, well you’re doing a great job. I designed a (now defunct) iOS app with a friend a few years ago and just taught myself as I was going, but I’ve never done any design outside of that on my own and my coding skills are nonexistent haha.

Thanks so much, that response is truly humbling!

By the way, 1.2.1 update is out now. The changes are not groundbreaking this time - think about it as a quality of life improvement. And actually - all of these are there because you guys suggested it. Thanks so much!

To grab the update, simply visit https://feltinstruments.com/Installers and grab the latest version of your plugin.

Here’s what’s changed:

  • There’s now an OPTIONS button (bottom right of the interface) that allows you to select the sample folder location after the initial load . Some users have experienced difficulty locating the samples so hopefully, this should help with that;
  • The global volume slider is now mapped do CC11 by default;
  • Fixed some AU validation issues that might have happened in Logic;

Cheers!

I am having trouble locating the samples too.

Are they still in the Kontakt instruments folder?

Thanks!

EDIT:

It says “The sample piano_5_pedal.ch1 wasn’t found”

You need to point to the exact folder that contains the .ch1 files. But if you’re saying there’s still some Kontakt stuff there, maybe you haven’t downloaded the new sample pool from Pulse? If there are no .ch1 files there, please open Pulse, simply right click on the image of the library you’d like to re-download. Select “Delete” and confirm. Click “Install” again. You’ll get the updated sample pool.

This is something you need to do only once if switching from the Kontakt version to the new one. All other plugin updates will go to the Installers page on the Felt website.

I need to do a FAQ page and update the manual further, I guess it wasn’t as clear as I thought it was! :slight_smile:

Thanks, I will try this today.

A FAQ would be helpful, I never would have figured that out!

Also, do I need to delete the Kontakt files from my computer or leave them in place?

I’m not likely to use the Kontakt version once the VST/AU is installed.

You can delete the old files, the new version doesn’t need them for anything :slight_smile:

I loved this instantly when it came out, but don’t own Kontakt. Buying the VST right now!
