If a sensibly priced way to get digital images into a negative format existed I’d set up a darkroom tomorrow. But the cost of film prohibits me from going back. But I really do miss it. My darkroom hours were my most cherished.

Same here. It’s been decades since I’ve been in a real darkroom, but I loved the hours I spent under the safe light, listening to music and printing. What a magical place! The tragedy is I still have a freezer full of film and paper and all the equipment I need to set up a proper darkroom. Everything except the space to install it, that is.

By the time I started working in a photo lab, the real darkroom didn’t see much use, but I loved printing for a living and would do it again in a second if the opportunity presented itself again!

Here are some pics from a roll of Kodacolor II expired in 1985 that I took to test out a Yashica TLR I just bought. Crappy flat results overall due to the old film and terribly dull light, but some frames show the writing from the backer printed through and that’s pretty cool. You might have to zoom in to see it.

I shot some Ektar 125 from the early 90s and the whole roll had this weird solarization vibe. Usually I just get shifted or faded colors with film this old.

Do you guys print your works in optical printing method? I am looking for such services 'cos I can’t find one in my country. Please recommend me some, thanks.

I’m very interested in using digital negatives, thinking an enlarged that can cope with larger negatives could be fun. Contact printing would work of course.

mmmm, lovely and crunchy

Sitting around on administrative leave and finally got around to developing film I’ve had sitting around for a couple of years. My fixer was over a year old so I left my film in for over an hour. Luckily it worked! Ordered more and it’s on the way.

I remember you asking about my Fomapan 200, great to see that you shot some of yours! lovely prints.

Thank you - it was the price that initially interested me tbh but I do like the look of it. Heard so many reports of contrast issues and faults but I simply stuck to their recommended developer, dev times and dilutions and found it more than acceptable. Thanks again

Finally got a decent Instax wide shot out of my Crown Graphic. Classic bathroom mirror selfie.

Also, my first darkroom “prints” on Harmon direct positive paper were a fail but they look kinda neat anyway.

On the quest for the perfect p&s film camera I ended up finding quite a few thrift store cameras over the past year or so. Some fun images on this found roll in a Minolta Freedom Dual.
