really fascinating showing. looks like each one had a different piece of hardware which was just as important to the piece as the loop itself! so cool
Readers of this topic may be interested in coub.com; a site for the creation and sharing of 10 second audio/video loops. Coub launched in 2012. It never really caught on, at least in North America, probably because the site is ugly, erratic and buggy. Nevertheless, the looping editor itself is simple and easy to use. I did play with it for a couple months. You can see the results (all created from youtube clips) here: knells - Channel on Coub

Small tangent. Steps to taking any video on your iPhone and turning it into a gif

I was checking through the ableton site and watched this video by Zan Lyons.
He uses some clever tricks to sync using ableton, Ebosuite, and keyboard mapping to do video loops with sound.
this article from CDM has links to a maxforlive video tool that might also be useful.

A crudely smushed together (and horribly dithered) gif of my first projectā¦
I actually really like all the artefacts you get turning it into a gif.

A bit of a tangent, perhaps, but I made a video/noise thing. Most likely to be worked on more at a later stage.
Sounds are Fyral looped with MLRE and video material from nature and Max generated. Probably a bit long and dramatic, but somehow I feel this fits into a loop regiment.
I do enjoy digital components emulating analog film artefacts.

super cool. i love the gif artifacts too. you can get some really beautiful ones:

and below is not a loop (yet) but i used to do a lot of work specifically with gif export settings. (view full size because anything smaller ruins the integrity)

As Iām completely iOS based these days Iād appreciate any app recommendations for making simple video loops with some basic fx. There are a plethora of video loopers on the App Store and itās daunting. Anything like koala for video?

Scrolling down the gifs you compiled was like scrolling through someoneās profile during the last days of MySpace. It wasnāt Friendster or Facebook that killed MySpace, it was the gif. I kind of miss it in a way because everyoneās profile eventually turned into a personal Times Square.

That was the best thing about it. Not to mention actually allowing users to customise the html
One of the things that probably did kill it tho was that at some point you could EMBED AUTOPLAYING MUSIC IN COMMENTS ON SOMEONE ELSES PAGE

These are both really cool - what are you using to make the frames in these?
thanks!
both photoshop, both circa 2009. thankfully the āsave for webā¦ā interface and features havenāt changed (at all?) since then so you can still do all this fun stuff. photoshop is still my favorite gif maker. the granular control you get with tweening is superb.
one cool technique is to āresampleā the same image over and over again with different lossy levels, web snap, compression algorithms, etc. the image ends up oscillating through cycles of garish trash to sublime beauty.

I made some videos around Orca compositions I made, the videos all incorporate video loops from footage shot with my cell phone or DSLR.

these are gorgeous. are the loops hand crafted or programmed?
