Wow what a great app! Hats off
Is it possible to midi assign the number of hits and track length?
That would be ace!
Thanks for the hard work

Yes, but not without a bit of effort. This would require you to wrap the values for Steps/Fill/Rotation in Control type params. (As it stands currently, only Control type parameters are midi assignable, and in foulplay, Steps/Fill/Rotation are just values in a table, and have not been parameterized.)

I keep mulling over a re-write + some additions for a 2.0 version, so when I get around to it I will keep this request in mind.

Thanks a lot for the detailed info!
Need to learn my way around instead of feature creep asking!
Looking forward to a 2.0 version
Congrats on the sequencer!

Hi @Justmat

Any chance we could have the option to turn off the mute without a monome?

was using this today on the train and saved a set with mutes as default and can’t seem to remove them this limits the possibilities.

think the apps tremendous btw

This definitely makes sense, I will try to work on it this evening.

You’re a star @Justmat thanks a lot

@spqr6510, I have fixed this, but wont be able to push it until tomorrow.

thanks mat

Much appreciated

Just pushed a fix for un-muting a track from norns. Use enc1 to select the muted track. Hold key3, and press key2 to un-mute.

nb: Doing this on a regular/ un-muted track will still reset all tracks to 1

Mat, do u think it could be possible to mute/unmute a track with that key combination? I mean, not just to unmute tracks saved as muted on a preset, but to have the chance to work without a grid on the mute parameter. Maybe it’s not so easy… I don’t know.
(I just ask since Foulplay - you know - is one of the script I love most and sometimes I don’t have the grid with me).

I remember not doing it for some reason, but I can’t remember why. Let me take a look at it and get back to you

Okay, now after finally having a chance to play with crow alongside norns a little, Foulplay is one that I think would be an incredibly cool and playable percussive accompaniment to euroack.

Is there any thought for crow integration, @Justmat?

Inputs on crow could be simply a clock and reset, then the four outputs could assignable to any of the channels to be able to send triggers into a eurorack environment, also being able to reassign on the fly.

I could see myself using this a lot!

That could definitely be useful! It’s been a while since I dove into the foulplay code, but I’ll take a poke around

edit: @Puscha a quick version of this was supper easy! once i get time to flesh it out and clean it up, i’ll post an update.

Sweet!!! When you’re updating these libraries for Crow, you’re updating the engines themselves right? As in, if another script uses the library it now has access to crow features?

And if so, is there usually another another step to expose those new features to the script?

this is just an update to the lua script foulplay, not the ack engine.

Wooo! This was nice to take up to this morning. That was fast, however easy you think it was, I’m impressed :stuck_out_tongue:

I can’t wait to try it out! This will add so much to my performance practices, and I won’t have to go down the pathway of incorporating a drum machine as I was beginning to consider.

it would be nice to decide where to put the trigger. Not just for divisions but to create more complex patterns. @Justmat it’s possible?

it’s not really possible to place notes arbitrarily with foulplay, mainly due to it being a euclidean sequencer. the closest you can get right now is rotating the patterns by holding key3 and turning enc2.

there is also some addition complexity to be found in the trigger logic settings,

I’ve been thinking (for whenever you have time for crow integration, anyway!) it would be really cool using a gate/trigger into one of the inputs of crow to rotate patterns, or shift the patterns from one to the next (same idea as the mod input on the Make Noise Tempi). These could both be set as options per track in the menu, along with a reset per pattern. The other input would make most sense staying as a clock input though.

Still dreaming of using norns as a little minimalist groove box to go along with my modular haha
