it doesn’t seem like anyone has seen this as it has 0 backing so far but this looks great

“Ergonomic layout” kind of made me chuckle  It’s a grid of knobs!

yeah that seems a bit off the only thing that makes sense is that the face of the unit is angled slightly but that doesn’t actually describe the layout

my computer died, so i’ll be a bit waiting to get that up and running again. dirtypcbs looks good, I’ll try them.

thanks Clive.

Tehn, can this design be adapted for a multiplexer so that I can add an extra 21 knobs?

likely but you’ll need to revise the circuit, and the code. would you like the eagle files?

Thank you Tehn. I have the eagle files and I am trying to weigh up the pros and cons of redoing the PCB and rewriting the sketch or make a couple of small PCBs and use a USB hub. What do you think?

it depends on your comfort with (enthusiasm for) electronic design. this is a really good starter project in general.

multiplexer, use some 4051 chips. each has 8 inputs. connect one 4051 output to an single ADC input.

so, to do 64 analog inputs, you’d use 8 ADC channels.

three digital outs select which 4051 pin to read (all the 4051 chips). so you can “scan” pin 1 of all of the chips, then switch to pin 2, 3, 4…

the code will be pretty simple.

what form factor are you looking at?

I just need to double the number of knobs and rearrange the layout. and add some pushbutton control for mute/unmute latch type things in whatever DAW I end up using (currently non but it changes…) I looked at things like Livid Brain but its actually a lot more then I need… and quite $pendy too.

Might also add some LED underlighting (not actually responsive to presses etc but colour coded for ease of memory) and easy to see as I like to work in pitch black

again this all seems like a great circuit project if you’re interested to learn it. i can post tips here, but mainly you’ll need to learn eagle (i don’t recall you mentioning if you have already)

i still have two unpopulated PCBs if anyone wants them.

paid $80 each.

also if anyone wants to get these direct from osh in the future:

Order from OSH Park

I have eagle, and taught myself how to use it – needs upgrading but I can use it. I may just post progress as I used to do. Hmmm.

Are there still PCB’s for this? @tehn should I PM you if so? Lovely project

i have some PCBs, but i’m out until august 7. catch me then.

Actually I might need one too but I’m not sure at all I could build it, having 0 experience in thus sort of things (wantinf to try though). how much would it cost to buy the knobs and the enclosure?

@Oootini did you get these made? Any chance you have a spare PCB you are willing to sell?

necro-bump. cleaning studio, found 2x pcbs. $40 shipped in the US. cost $80 from osh!

I’ll would possibly take one! How much would uk shipping be?

twleve us dollars for intl ship

shall I pm you? lets do it
