Ah ! As soon as I saw it I wondered if anyone had it working on lines! So cool, what kind of lights are you using?

i just went on amazon and ordered 8 different kinds of usb lights… not sure if it matters but i tried to only order ones which didn’t have any settings on them- ones that just turn on when you plug them in. though with my limited experience using illuminati so far, i think it might be ok with a really wide variety of lights, just as long as they are usb powered. all 8 of the different lights i ordered worked perfectly! i’m going to look around and see what other usb powered devices i can find like a fan or such…

This is kind of an amazing news for smaller scale oriented performance, thinking you could have a reactive light setup with such a simple routing… I think I’m going to order one. Thanks a lot for the informations !

how did you modify it ? seems like it would work as-is

I suppose it could’ve been done with some specialty adapter and preserve the original functionality, but I didn’t have that adapter, so I just chose to re-wire it. Didn’t have a use for it otherwise.

This is the guide I found back then I think, but there are certainly others out there.

I don’t have a norms yet, but I’m curious if it’s possible to use a class compliant USB audio interface with it to get more outs. Will the hardware allow it, and does the software have a way of addressing the extra ourputs?

yes

yes and no. some layers of the software (jack, supercollider) are fine with lots of I/O, and some (crone, softcut) would need modification. if you are not making your own software i don’t really recommend this because you will just be asking other developers to make changes that they can’t test and are probably not interested in.

Not reinventing the wheel or anything here, but i made an arc sized midi controller (teensy) for my norns (fates) pretty much based on the Four n 128.

Actually its the same design (thanks @tehn for the files!) but half the size.
