Grainfield + re:mix

I seem to be having trouble recording to the buffer in M4L. I can still get the previous version of grainfields to work just fine in M4L.

I’m pretty sure I’ve ruled out user error at this point. I set up the tracks in Ableton according to the instructions (and as I’ve done with the 1.0 version). The i/o for each voice is set up just as I have it in the previous version as well. Everything lights up, and all other functions work. When I press the record into buffer buttons (far right column), it lights up for the set recording duration, the light goes off after said duration, but nothing has appeared in the buffer.

Any advice?

Hi Travis,

Thanks for the heads up. I did a lot of optimization in the device, and suddenly I have the same issue here. I’ll fix it and put up an update asap.

Awesome. Thank you, Kasper!

No rush on this stuff, but did you happen to upload an update and I’m not seeing it? If not, all good! Just curious.

Just committed a fix for the audio input recorder. Should work now. You can grab the update on Github.

Let me know if you experience any issues.

Hey! You rule! I’ll give it a shot hopefully tomorrow!

Awesome! Thanks a ton! I’m looking forward to getting it up and running this weekend.

Not sure when this started happing, but is anyone else having trouble with Voice 2? Whether I drop a sample into it or record the live input, I’m getting some hardcore crackling. This isn’t happening with any other voice.

MAJOR CLARIFYING EDIT:
I’m talking about the 1.1 M4L version.

Did anyone ever add midi mapping to the standalone version? @kasperskov @rdfm @disquiet

Not me. Maybe someone else?

Has anyone made a touch osc mapping m4l version? @kasperskov

Just found the issue with voice 2. The default preset was setting the grain duration to the minimum which will create some crackling. I committed a fix for this (still version 1.1 on Github).

sorry should have included the formula:

  • start with freq ratio = 7
  • divide by 2 until within one octave = 7/4
  • semitones = log2(ratio) * 12 = log2(7/4) * 12 = 9.688…

(or equivalently, log2(7) * 12 - 24)

Hi, this is my first time using the grid and this is the first patch I’m working with on MAX. This is a stupid question but audio out? Grid is plugged into iMac and I my interface is Apollo Twin X. I can’t get any audio and have looked at preferences, sound, etc. Any ideas? Again novice so don’t beat me up too bad.
