i pinged you on github, but i believe the project url needs to be https://github.com/yotamorimoto/norns_grd in order for maiden to scrape it.

very excited by this script, welcome  !!!

I managed to install this and get it running without any issues or restarting (just ran the stop.sh and start.sh commands).

Thank you for sharing! It’s beautiful and I look forward to digging deeper and trying to understand how it works.

o, my mistake! i did remove .git from the URL. thanks!
not sure how i did was right…it seems allright. git(hub) always puzzels me…

ok. Installing from maiden works too.

it does! and it’s gorgeous. very easy to get to really wonderful zones

quick note from the docs (which we should clean up and make more obvious, apologies!), there’s a convention of including sc and additional lua files (besides the main script) inside of a lib folder. the on-norns directory hides lib, but any other folders will show up – the installed maiden version of grd, for example, shows grd and grd/sc while navigating the script directory on norns.

I was able to instal it and have the double scripts but this is fun to play with.
Curious if there would be a way to load up any sample or what not into it but i love the simplicity of it.

i see. now understood
i’ll change and push soon!

internally it’s using the Sample class i made in supercollider. if you look into sc_sample/celesta/ there’re 7 wav files of individual celesta notes (all perfect 5th appart). you can swap those files with you own sample (provided you cover all 7 notes and give them the same names). you could also ‘hack’ it by providing each note sample of a different instrument

pushed the changes. so that grd/sc doesn’t show up.

I get this : “ERROR (i2c/hp) failed to write”, same in glut any ideas?

You can ignore this. (Fates/Shield?)

yes, script does not run though…edit: it does …

FWIW - Same error happens on Shield as well.

you’re right, apologies for any unintended implication.

for the record: both shield and fates lack the i2c-controlled headphone driver in factory norns, so this message is expected and benign.

I’m having a hard time syncing link to Ableton. any tips?

i’ve never used Link so can’t help much but what are you trying to do? is it to sync with the grd script?

I’m guessing yeah, that they’re looking for a way to use link to externally sync the samples.

The current build in norns clock, if the script calls it for time/bpm should allow for seem less Link integration.

I haven’t used the script yet (haven’t had time, but hella want to), so I don’t know if it’s clocked at all. But yeah, the norns clock is a global tool now instead of previous beat.clock.

Hope that helps!
