I have two H9 Max pedals I use all the time on my synths and will pick up an Empress Echosystem soon. I love the Eventide sound with synths and their pedals and effects are true stereo so they work particularly well with my polysynths.

I have never had the input level issue you describe with either the Space nor my H9s. Killdry is killdry, on the Eventides. They’re rock solid pedals.

Just ordered the TC electronic June 60. Going to pair it with my monologue. Should be a nice combo.

Not seen mentioned, but the Strymon El Capistan plays really nicely with synths. Easy to dial up and wash everything, easy to pull back too. Has the added advantage of having a bit of spring reverb action hidden inside along with the delays. It’s a ā€˜cold dead hands’ pedal for me.

Honourable mention to EHX Cathedral - had one, sold it for a v1 Big Sky, and then had to get it back…!

Couldn’t offer a subjective (never mind objective!) opinion as never played with the Timeline, but would imagine them to be different beasts… the Timeline does look great.

I do think the ideal with pedals is being able to borrow if possible and see if it fits what you like. I was seriously interested in the Oto BAM for a while, but a borrow cured me of that notion. I’m quite aware that many others would enthusiastically disagree with me on that!!

I hadn’t thought of the pog as for use with synths before! Isn’t that one a synth in of itself? Does it harmonize with the synthesizer using its own voice or the synths? Haven’t played with one of those in a while and remember being wowed by it.

It’s a really interesting sound. Kind of makes my minilogue sound like a pipe organ. It’s great that one can mix the voices. A lot of times, I won’t even use the +1 or +2 octaves. Using the lower octaves can add a great deal of girth.

I generally use my pedals with my Rhodes but I use the same board with a Synth on tour. At the moment that board is Dunlop Echoplex Pre->Big Muff Triangle Clone (with mids dip switch)->Chase Bliss Warped Vinyl->Catalinbred Adineko->Chase Bliss Tonal Recall->Eventide H9 Max

I love this set up. It may be slight overkill though.

The Moskey Spring Reverb pedal is a clone of a Malekko pedal. It’s essentially a Belton Brick reverb for right around $20 USD, particularly if you can wait for it to ship from China. Essentially a one trick pony, but fine for me at the moment.
2020 is all about character reverbsšŸ™‚

Mine arrived today and yeah, one trick pony with a good trick. I find I need to feedback patch it to get it to oscillate, but that’s ok since I want EQ etc. in the loop when I do that anyhow.

That blue LED is gonna need some tape though, wow. I thought Mini Slew had bright lights… :sunglasses:

Totally hear you about the light, my MXR Carbon Copy is blinding as well. So is my uZeus now they I think about it! Tape sounds pretty good.

I wound up using the silver Sharpie I had nearby and it works great – dims the light a bit while still letting it shine through, and looks nicer than tape :slight_smile:

I prefer the Volante over both. I’ve spent a lot of time with one now and it’s just so great.

managed to get a pretty nice deal on an Electro-Harmonix Memory Boy which i will be picking up this weekend.

really interested to see how it goes with my volca bass. will report back!

EHX Memory Man big box with external power (I’ve used and repaired several versions of this pedal and this one is the best)
EHX Stereo Polyphase (this is a bit of a sleeper, next best thing to a biphase and excellent with synths)

I’ve been building eurorack modules for a while, but recently decided to build some guitar pedals. I got a bunch of PCBs from Madbeanpedals, and a couple from Aion Electronics. So far, I’ve really enjoyed my clones of the EHX Deluxe Memory Man analog delay and Electric Mistress flanger - they sound really wonderful on synths!

I also recently finished a clone of the Boss DC-2 Dimension C chorus. Haven’t tried it out much yet, but I like the sound. Fuzz and distortion pedals, however, haven’t been very useful on synths so far.

Other than that, the OTO Bim and Bam delay and reverb units are just amazing, but not quite guitar pedals.

It definitely falls into the category of boutique, but I am loving the Neon Egg Planetarium for use with synths. I’ve been sending the Digitone and Slate & Ash Cycles through it and it just sounds so consistently great.

For those who are unfamiliar it’s a reverb -> delay -> compressor (with internal or external side chain). The interplay of the various components is just a lot of fun. With the exception of Chase Bliss MOOD I often find pedals that stack effects to be a little convoluted and ultimately too prescriptive to be inspiring long term.

Planetarium though just feels like it imparts liveliness & atmosphere that I haven’t before found via a single unit. Attention to certain boring-seeming but functional details are great as well: for example, it has an input trim & a level out.

Guitar pedal obsession is pretty much what brought me to synths. Or did I go about it completely backwards? Hard to say.

As far as guitar pedals I use:

-Strymon Blue Sky is maybe the best guitar reverb I’ve found for synths.

-Diamond Memory Lane Jr is the pedal I’ve owned the longest and never tire of. Just simply the best sounding/easiest to use digital delay out there even after about 10 years.

Montreal Assembly Count to Five is about as fun as any granular Delay pedal you will ever own. Never ceases to amaze and the reason it’s basically been ripped off by every boutique pedal builder to some extant or another.

-Chase Bliss Mood/Thermae/Tonal Recall are all great mystery tone boxes. Pretty deep. I really want their Dark Matter reverb as well. The soon to be new CXM1978 looks destined to be every synth players’ dream reverb.

-Red Panda Tensor/Particle are great granular delay/backwards delay pedals. Jonny Greenwood MaxMSP in a pedal.

-Eventide H9 is pretty ideal for synth (stereo!) and in many ways approaches turning whatever you plug into it a synth in itself. Great reverbs and delays, and seems to not distort as much as other guitar pedals either.

-Earthquaker Avalanche Run was my go to pedal for my Sub 37 because it has switchable delay AND reverb. I’m kind of surprised not
every single synth company has come out with a reverb/delay module like it. Who likes synths without delay/reverb? But who wants to plug in two pedals/modules? I would own two for that reason but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. As a result, I have other pedals that do the same thing, but NONE that do it as well. Honorable mention to the Disaster Transport for a cool multi tap delay/reverb that has a different/less utilitarian vibe to it.

-Moog MF-102 is the one that kind of started it all for me. Amazing pedal. Best sounding tremelo (VCA) I have ever heard. Gamelan sounds on guitar. Wish I had jumped on the Cluster Flux and Murf before they discontinued/got so expensive.

Electroharmonix Pitch Fork. This pedal is very affordable and comes in very handy from time to time. Honorable mention for Freeze, though obviously less necessary for synths than it is a utter necessity for guitar.

Zvex Loopgate is my secret for crossfading love/live. The options get deep with this.

I still need to find the right module to incorporate all my pedals 100% without clipping from synths. From my experience, some fair better than other as far as line level/clipping/distortion.

I’ve been looking into the Bastl Hendrikson for this, also the Make Noise Rosie as possible line level effects loops. Which do you use/recommend?
