Any lines people pre-ordered Blooper?

I was really tempted by it, but I have some major concerns about the usability of the interface. Usually small devices, with controls having multiple functions and in general having a lot squeezed into them, just frustrate me on the long run.

yep  (in 20 characters)

@papernoise I share the same feeling as you.

Been into loops composition for quite some times, I’ve tried many types of tool, ended up I use several pedals for live performance, notably:

  • Zvex Lo-fi Loop Junky - a simple 20 sec looper, cannot layering sound, but it’s analog
  • Analog Fox Lo-fi Looper - a clone of above pedal plus additional dry signal volume control
  • Red Panda Tensor - short loop, speed variable, time stretching
  • Montreal Assembly Count to Five & 856 - short loop, speed variable plus some cool delay functions

I use a Mackie mixer to connect things together by use of Send/ Retrun & Insert, the pedals are in parallel instead of in series. It is the most complicated part on my setup, I do make things wrong sometimes  on it and thinking how to improve/ or streamline things a bit.

Had tried Digitakt but I think it is not good for unquantized elements (at least for me it’s not). Will try to add norns but still thinking how to embed it into them.

Never heard of the Analog Fox. Will investigate.

I was so excited when I finally got a Lofi Loop Junky after years of wanting one. But sadly I could never gel with it. I found it impossible to have the loops play ‘in sync’. Obviously I don’t mean real sync but somewhat true to the timing I pushed the buttons. There is a weird delay/latency that I could never get used to. Probably due to it being made all analog. But it always felt wrong to me.

Regarding the Blooper, it definitely is more complex than the pedals you mentioned. But you can basically set it up how you want it to behave and only use those functions. Then every knob serves your selected purpose. Of course you would need to adjust, if you change the modes etc.

ha! i own that peavey pvdj. had tons of fun using it with turntables. love the way it loop so fast and sync non beat sounds

another dj-oriented sampler i rarely use but has some interesting functions is the ecler ds-84 (i think is a clone from the vestax dsg-05:

no sos function, limited to 8 secs, but you can tweak both pitch & loop lenght.

donÂŽt know for sure if someone has mentioned here the vestax faderboard. iÂŽve been curious about that device.

I did. Happily waiting for December delivery

hello all,

i am currently searching for a good looper/delay pedal that would be good to use with a cello. my partner is getting a cello as a gift from his family for christmas, and i am trying to find one that is a) affordable, b) reliable, c) easy to use (as he is new to using pedals)!

my initial instincts were to get him a line 6 dl4 because i have used one with friends and they seem to do both looping and delay pretty well, but i am wondering what delay/loopers people here have experience with for acoustic instruments/strings!

thanks

yay excited for this duo !

potential thing: depending on how you mic it up clicky pedal clicks could get into the loops. not a problem with pickups/contact mics which are ideal 4 playing live anyway

I’m deciding whether to hook jade up with a looper as well or just go straight to norns or computer stuff

but yea I think anna roxanne’s live rig is just a line 6 which seems like reason enough to go for it. it is also the main pedal I’ve considered

The DL4 is an absolutely fantastic looper and very intuitive. One has lived on my guitar pedalboard for a long time and I can’t see myself replacing it for anything else.

That being said it’s not perfect, and the 14 second (28 using half speed) loop time might not be ideal for everyone. Hard to go wrong with a TC Ditto in my opinion. Very straightforward and simple.

I use a Boss RC-202, and to be honest I feel like it’s a bit slept on.
It is not very ideal for a guitarist but I play synth/guitar while sitting and it works out really well for me. The built in effects are not anything special but it has stereo in’s and out’s and an aux input, so it can effectively be a mixer for 2 different chains as well. It also has midi which I have not used but can see the benefits of. Also it looks like a cassette player from what people thought the future would look like in the 80s so that’s cool.

I went with an EHX 720 Looper for my electric violin. My loops are typically longer than 14 seconds, and I find the ability to save a loop or 10 for later rather nice, especially if I want to sketch out an idea.

The dl4 looks nice, but when I look at it, but the short loop time feels cramped if you want to do more dedicated live looping. Do you know which way your friend wants to go? I have a friend who just bought a TC Electronic Flashback 2 X4. It sounded good and has 40 seconds of loop time. I suspect if I bought one, I’d keep the 720 and just use it as a delay.

I’m beginning to feel like an ER-301 paired with the newly announced Empress Euroburo could be a pretty formidable looping setup. Thoughts? Overkill?

I just happened upon a video where somebody had managed to sync a Boss RC series loop pedal with a Volca Sample and it got me wondering if anyone here has done anything similar. I’ve got an RC-20XL and I love the idea of using it with a Beatstep Pro as a sync source so that I could grab time sync’d loops on the fly in a DAW-less environment.

This is really nice.

Can you talk about how you are integrating Lubadh into your setup/process? I was just watching the introduction video and it seems like there are a lot of possibilities for signal flow— just need to wrap my head around it.

Thanks. I use a Doepfer matrix mixer for a more complex signal routing. Lubadh has two channels with up to 9min. This makes it very easy to develop materials over time and bounce it back and forth. For this record, I only used those “instruments” as an input source.
And for effects:
path 1: serge resEQ (fixed filter bank) > oto bam (reverb)
path 2: AJH Synth FFB 914 (fixed filter bank) > Magneto (tape delay emulation)

Are there any other hardware loopers which have the functionality of the old Eventide Timefactor looper. I use the adjustable start and end points and quantised pitch shifting as the basis for a lot of processes? I’d like to free up an H9 Max being used just for looping. Also I midi control that H9 using a dis-functional old Timefactor so feel a bit ‘extra’ getting another and interested in any alternatives.

not hardware currently - but my new commercial plugin does all those things. Hopefully out in the next month or so. Designed to be easy to map controls to it though

(Would love to bring it to hardware one day but there is a long journey between here and there  )

Everytime I think about replacing my Timefactor with something else, I realize there is nothing like it out there that does those special things like dry kill for using in the aux send/return, and the adjustable start/stop points for glitchy weirdness. Even the way it sounds when you record at max length is special. I don’t think I’ve ever used it as an actual delay pedal. I kinda want a second one now.
