Hmm… after looking at it again, I think you’re right. It would indeed fit into one box, which could be made out of metal. It would be a bit of a heavy one, but certainly better feeling and looking than the plastic one.
There’s probably just two tricky things that need to be checked: how do the buttons stay in place, and how to make the LEDs around the big rec buttons shine through.

Loopverse looks pretty interesting and capable though (apart from being iOS-based, which kills it a bit for me). Not really sure how it works, the video doesn’t really show much of that, but it seems a bit similar to this one: https://zenaud.io/

I’ve Kickstartered one and it’s pretty nifty. Can handle a lot of tempo syncing (that’s what the lights do, natch), and it’s really handy for when I’m using my AD Odio to process audio through the bottom port of the iPad, but still want to control things or have the iPad do sequencing duty somewhere else. The whole thing is light because the majority of it is heavy-duty rubber, with the electronics really only in that area with the lights. And it does what it says: a simple platform for the iPad to sit on top of.

I wonder if it could also be an option to use a Raspberri PI + Sooperlooper + a foot controller. You could probably make that very self contained and compact with a bit of DIYing

So it might seem weird but I think I decided I need a second looper in my guitar signal chain. Just a small one like the regular ditto. Reason being that I would like to be able to record a dry riff and then be able to tweak the effects being applied to it as it loops, and then build layers of those affected loops. The signal flow would be something like:

Guitar - small looper - compressor - volume - other effects / delay etc - ditto x4 looper - reverb

Lots of looping folks use two loopers this way.

Although, if I started to do a lot of stuff with pedals I’d probably want a patchbay for re-routing purposes.

But for myself, the ER-301 has unlimited loopers. I think I just need some foot switches, rather than build up a pedal board… In fact, I should just use some MIDI > CV to make my Behringer FCB1010 more useful…

That’s a good idea, though as far as patch bays go that that one is pretty unsophisticated. You can get guitar patchbays that have preset-recallable routings and that sort of thing. Boss just released this: https://www.boss.info/global/products/es-8/ though there are even simpler and less expensive ones out there. I mostly just use a couple of delay pedals and a reverb and play with the knobs / flip through presets there, so I don’t have much of need for patching. Also my guitar goes through a Roland VG-99 which has all sorts of options for recalling different tones etc.

i like to use a switcher and have loopers and freeze pedal all in parallel going into a mini mixing desk. I use the boss slicer on the mixing desk fx loop to pulse a rhythm in if i feel the need. Its a great set up. i keep it all on a bench… my feet dont go anywhere near it… that brain looper looks good but a bit confusing to read- probably makes more sense to you eurorack types. I couldnt imagine kneeling down and repatching it between songs- but of course you do get use to such things. Think Kisielk is right if you are going down that route you probably want presets. Looks nice though - sure it has its niche.

Can anyone comment on the Strymon Timeline as a looper? I was thinking of picking up a new delay and a looper and it seems to fill both roles nicely.

I have an Eventive TimeFactor, which also doubles as a looper. It’s a really cool single-track looper, with nice things like tweakable start/end positions. Despite really liking it, I never use it does not work together with the delay (it’s either one or the other). 99% of the time I do need a delay, and the TimeFactor is my delay of choice. I would love it to work like the Strymon, where the looper is usable together with the delay… maybe I should get that one instead.

That’s one beautiful design! And using a pin matrix for routing the audio of the pedalboard seems like a brilliant way of solving one of the big issue of pedalboards
